Why This May Be a Poor Week For Stocks

Did the stock market get ahead of itself? Consider the stock market’s performance between Christmas and New Year’s, which historically is one of the best weeks... It turns out that Santa is markedly less likely to make an appearance whenever the stock market — like this year — has been especially strong in December prior to Christmas...

Something to consider.

That being said, today is considered a "Bullish" day, with the historical odds of the market being up as follows:

Dow 81%
S&P 81%
Nasdaq 71%
R2K 81%

Chart watchers, I'll be watching to see if Mr. Market can push the NYSE up above the resistance line that's held it back on three previous attempts.

We're in a long term secular bull market and in secular bull markets all surprises tend to come on the upside. I'd welcome a blow off at any time.

Should be close to a major top, but then again, that's been the story for 2014, can't beat a bull market...

RSI is over 76. You can see what happens when the engine gets too hot by looking at history. Not saying it's gonna crash today, but I would prefer to sidestep the downside and get back in after a cool-down. That's how to maximize your returns using the same horse.

MrJohnRoss,

You are on the right track. Good Luck!

I remember getting a rude awakening last January when I expected things to keep humming through January after such a great 2013.
Sure have enjoyed this December rally though. :)

Tomorrow is also historically a "neutral" day for the markets. Percent chance of an up day:

DJIA: 43%
S&P500: 57%
Nasdaq: 48%

Watch out for Wednesday the 31st tho...
