Fed's economic forecast worsens

But according to the minutes, some members of the central bank's policy committee indicated they were open to increasing its purchases of Treasury notes and mortgage securities as a way of spurring more lending.
Treasury prices rallied after the minutes were released, pushing their yield, which moves in the opposite direction, down to 3.18%.

Wow - thanks Mojo. I just decided to look in and I end up with a huge question

If you have a mortgage (3 yrs into a 30 year) and you knew the dollar was going to collapse - do you sell of just suck it up? How do you protect yourself when a currency is devalued? I know part of the answer is get out of dept, but what do you do with that couple of thousands of dollars in your savings before the devaluation happens? Buy gold coins with it???? I know I'm going to have some bads dreams - My new montra- Don't read/listen(to) bad economic news before bed......

My solution has been to invest a percentage in gold and silver. At this point I believe silver might be the better of the two. I think they are both going to do the same thing that oil did last year. Who knows though there is a lot of power behind the dollar. At least I know my gold/silver won't go to 0. Here are a couple metals forums if you are interested in learning more.

GM bankruptcy plan eyes quick sale to government

http://www.reuters.com/article/euDealsNews/idUSTRE54H6AN20090520

NEW YORK (Reuters) - If General Motors Corp (GM.N) files for bankruptcy, as widely expected, its healthy assets will be quickly sold to a new company owned by the U.S. government, a source familiar with the situation said on Tuesday.

Crazy times we are living in. Gov loans GM billions of taxpayer dollars. Gov buys GM with billions more of taxpayer dollars then forgives GM taxpayer loans so they don't have to pay us back? Oh then the Gov owned GM will close the US plants and build the cars in China? WTF is going on?

WTF is going on?

I second that!

Looks like the dollar will be in the 70s today.

$ is getting hammered down below 80. I think the F fund will not survive unless the stock market crashes or the govt supports $, which i dont think will happen.

I hear what you are saying, and we all see the fundamental problem with bonds, but we also need to take our sentiment into consideration.

As I always say, don't trust your own extreme emotional opinion. It's probably wrong. The reason I jumped into the F fund in late April was because of the chart, and the negative sentiment. Take a look...
