One final thought:

WHAT SENATOR JOHN GLENN SAID :Iraq in January.
In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the
month of January. That's just one American city,
about as deadly as the entire war-torn country of Iraq.

When some claim that President Bush shouldn't
have started this war, state the following:

a.
FDR led us into World War II.

b.
Germany never attacked us; Japan did.
>From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost ...
an average of 112,500 per year.

c.
Truman finished that war and started one in Korea.
North Korea never attacked us
.
>From 1950-195 3, 55,000 lives were lost ..
an average of 18,334 per year.

d. John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962.

Vietnam never attacked us
.

e. Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire.
>From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost ..
an average of 5,800 per year.

f.
Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent.
Bosnia never attacked us
.
He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three
times by Sudan and did nothing.
Osama has attacked us on
multiple occasions.

g. In the years since terrorists attacked us, President Bush
has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled
al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya, Iran, and North
Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who
slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.

The Democrats are complaining
about how long the war is taking.

But
..
It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno
to take the Branch Davidian compound.
That was a 51-day operation.

We've been looking for evidence for chemical weapons
in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to find
the Rose Law Firm billing records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the
Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard
than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his
Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick

It took less time to take Iraq than it took
to count the votes in Florida!!!!

Our Commander-In-Chief is doing a
GREAT JOB!
The Military morale is high!

The biased media hopes we are too ignorant
to realize the facts.

But Wait.
There's more!

JOHN GLENN (ON THE SENATE FLOOR)
Mon, 26 Jan 2004 11:13

Some people still don't understand why military personnel
do what they do for a living.
This exchange between
Senators John Glenn and Senator Howard Metzenbaum
is worth reading.
Not only is it a pretty impressive
impromptu speech, but it's also a good example of one
man's explanation of why men and women in the armed
services do what they do for a living.

This
IS a typical, though sad, example of what
some who have never served think of the military.

Senator Metzenbaum (speaking to Senator Glenn):
"How can you run for Senate
when you've never held a real job?"

Senator Glenn (D-Ohio):
"I served 23 years in the United States Marine Corps.
I served through two wars.
I flew 149 missions.
My plane was hit by anti-aircraft fire on 12 different
occasions.
I was in the space program. It wasn't my
checkbook, Howard
, it was my life on the line. It was
not a nine-to-five job, where I took my tie off to take the
daily cash receipts to the bank."

"I ask you to go with me ... as I went the other d ay...
to a veterans
' hospital and look those men ...
with their mangled bodies in the eye, and tell
THEM
they didn't hold a job!

You go with me to the Space Pro
gram at NASA and go,
as I have gone, to the widows and orphans
of Ed White, Gus Grissom
, and Roger Chaffee...
and you look those kids in the eye and tell them
that their DADS didn't hold a job.

You go with me on Memorial Day
, and you stand in
Arlington National Cemetery, where I have more friends
buried than I'd like to remember, and you watch
those waving flags

You stand there, and you think about this nation,
and you tell ME that those people didn't have a job?

What about you?"

For those who don't remember ..
During W.W.II, Howard Metzenbaum was an attorney
representing the Communist Party in the USA.

Now he's a Senator!

If you can read this, thank a teacher.
If you a
re reading it in English thank a Veteran.

MM,

I hope you will stay here. You are an informed investor. Your comments/recommendations add a lot here.

I hope I have not implied in my postings that I think that I know what I'm doing with my trades in the funds (that I is why I use Homer Simpson for my avatar). I own no other stocks. TSP is my only investment for retirement, other than my NASCAR collectibles.

I'm sorry for the flame wars in the past; they were 100% my fault. You should feel appreciated here due the fact that 15 people backed you and only DMA backed me.

Sincerely,
Greg

I really have some reservation with you leaving the board just because Greg came back. If you look at thecircumstances, I would have to say that your background within this board have lots of similarities with his. Tom have alwas been open to letting people come back to this site as contributing members. I believe that he had done the same to you as what he had just done with Greg. Albeit,Greg had said some negative things about this site somewhere else, but many members had done so as well, whether it was publicly(inanother site) or through elist. I should know. I wasmember ofthat elist at one point.

We all were drawn to this site due to exact same interests.1. To help people and also learn from others2. To learn about TSP and the market in hope of growing our retirement account3. To meetfriends. Along the way, like any civilization or organizations or forum, there will be times where disagreementsdefinitely happen. It is up to us, as individual, to reconcile that difference.

Tom has alot of patience (way more than mine). As the administrator, he also had to look at the board as a whole and look for ways to grow the siteand to better help others. There are silent majority here that look up to you and others for advice (and leadership) whether you like it or not. I just don't think this is what they had hope to see from you.

So what the heckam I trying to say here? As much as I don't want you to leave, I will not stop you.Thatis a decision you are going to have to make. But, please, I hope that you will at least think of others whoyou can help and other who loves interacting with you almost on adaily basis (I am one of them).:^

Good grief! Cat fight...mushy crap...cat fight...love fest...more catty and volatile than a premenstral index fund!

"I'm taking my ball and going home!"

"I didn't wanna play anyway!"

"Maaaaaaaa! He's touching me!"

...sounds pretty similar...dunno if this is a soap opera or Romper Room.

Now all of you...settle your differences in PM....and for Pete's sake, take some testosterone suppliments and let's get back to business...or aren't you man enough?

Then you should also remember that one of my first e-mails stated that this wasn't going to be a "bash Tom" e-list? If you can prove otherwise please do, but I believe about the only negative thing I said was about allowing MT to continue to post?

Doesn't really matter, water under the bridge as they say. Hmmm, perhaps I shouldn't use that analogy considering recent events............

Hey, I"m gonna start a "bash Sarah" e-list. Anyone interested?

Kidding.............................;)

Can someone prop that S fund up please, it's looking like a weeping willow. Maybe Greenspan will do it...................:? Got my fingers crossed anyway. :!

Good luck all,

See what happens when I try to "predict" what will happen!!!!!! :@

Hard to do with the noon cut-off. I think I'm going to have to stop moving around so much and stick with my original plan. Maybe anyway..........................:h

imported post

What IS your original plan, anyway?

I've learned, the hard way, that rapidly trading mutual funds (tsp or others) doesn't work. The only exception to thatis ETFs, which do not take 1-3 days to settle.

imported post

The original plan called for trading no more once every 3 days, which is what I do with my IRA's simply because I have to. But damn it, I still think I can do better by trading every day when the indicators warrant it!!!!

I didn't get a signal to jump in on Monday this week, I went with the market being up historically lately when the Fed meets. Oopsie...........now I'm stuck and have to decide how much pain I can handle. If only I didn't hate the I fund so much.......

Oh well, live and learn. Lot's of people worse off than I am. I have a roof over my head, beer and food in the fridge, and a TSPtalk site that loves me...........well, 2 outta 3 ain't bad eh? :P

Fib Timer had the nerve to proclaim this week as Bullish!! Bull, hey MM;)I'm regretting my 50/50 move, but hey, it's gotta come back up eventually. And you are right on to say we're OK. At least my life hasn't been disrupted with two disasters.

imported post

Is that why they call it "Fib" timer?

Yes, we should count our blessings. On top of the two hurricane's, did you see on the news last night thatplane in California that had the front wheels locked sideways? Really scary. My hats off to that crew. They landed safely and the passengers looked pretty calm considering. I know I would of had to change my britches if I was on it.

It's been a bad week all around I think. Hell, the Cowboys even lost to the Redskins at home for the first time since 1995. Heck of a come back.................:(I should of known to stay out of the market then!!
