I don't think anyone spotted this / posted about it, but initial claims filed this week for unemployment benefits unexpectedly fell 20k (was reported Thursday).

This could be a sign of another positive payroll report coming down the chute.

Spaf - this is hard to believe, but a bear was cited inmy neck of the woods thisweek - in a metro area of nearly 3 million people, no less (this type of thing only seems to happen in MN!). In fact, it made it near downtown St. Paul before authorities had to shootit.

Something similar happened a couple weeks before that, as well (that one didn't make it to St. Paul, but it did manage to navigate its way into the first ring suburbs before the cops shot it).

I guess the market is even making real bears restless. :l

I'm sorry to the point of as you all say-LOL. The BEARS don't believe in hope-only despair. Why give them anything-they will get another day only from a higher level. In the meantime they can all wear a locator collar and treat it as a brace for the neck strain they are going to develope from looking up. We have been correcting since 1/04, it's time for forward motion. Catch'em all in the shelter-at least they will be safe. I just got to get Skypilot to light up the afterburners-I'm strapped in, the faster the ride the more the shorts bleed. Trap'em all-they deserve what they get-no mercy here from the renegade contrarian.

Birch....if U have read it good! If not take a gander of page 2 and 3 of The Dow Theory. U can skip pages 1 and 4 an read them later, whatever. This reading is at stockcharts.com

Quit ur complaining. Doesn't ur mouse have a scroll button? If u go to the higher resolution the print gets so small u can't it.
Buy the way check out The Dow Theory on Stockcharts.com Now is the time to understand p2 and p3. But, be careful, while Fundamentals and technicals look good, there can always be bull traps on break-outs.

Can you be more specific-why the urgency? Just put it out there. Are you thinking that BEARS don't get depressed, only mean and growl. We actually had a Dow Theory buy signal right around 3/7 before the latest correction. The primary guru would not commit instead continues to hedge-he has been on the wrong side of the curve since the bottom in 10/02. Several other reputable followers of Dow Theory are in 100%.

I am speaking of The Dow Theory at stockcharts.com p2 and p3. This needs to be understood in relation to where we are now. In a Bull stage 1 there is accumulation. Then a transfer to stage 2. However, stage 2 needs a confirmation of surpassing the previous peak. If 1193 was the correct peak. We are at that point right now. If the market is ready to break-out up...then great! Bull traps exist, and we should be aware of them. That's when the break-out turns sour. I will start a new Market Talk for the new week. Just wanted to give folks a heads-up on the facts and potential. Don't have a crystal ball. We could be out of this trading range, I say could be, don't have a certainity!

We will see how next week goes... Last week was helped with the options expiring... But the ease of movement was nice..
Will hold long until it moves to the down side...
Something to look at is the cup pattern forming in the sp500 ! From the 1st part of april to friday was a perfect cup..
Now look for a pull back to make the handle. And shake out the weak hands. When the sp500 gets back to fridays close and breaks it that will be the time to be fully in... If it fails to breakout then be a bear..
