Can anyone explain the jump starting around 1:30pm today? It may not hold.....but I haven't seen any news to 'splain it.

(Not that I'm complaining. :))

"It may not hold".....I'm a pretty good seer too! Notice I said, "May not"...which obviously indicates that it "May" as well.

I'm 100% today.

:D

Unusual

All four funds finished in the green today. We all win! The dust gathers itself into a whirling mass.

Dave - Are you getting the share prices early somewhere or are you assuming? I have to wait until 7PM ET to get the tsp.gov share prices.

July 11, 11:14 pm ET - Delphi Reports $2.4 Billion Loss for 2005 in Delayed Annual Report Due to GM Production Cuts
The company, which filed for bankruptcy protection in October, blamed the loss of $4.21 per share on accounting charges, price pressures from a reduction in GM's North American vehicle production and increased costs for raw materials. Delphi's bottom line should benefit later this year from the departure of 12,600 workers represented by the United Auto Workers who took early retirement offers. The company has replaced some of the workers with people hired at far lower hourly wage rates. Even more Delphi workers could leave as buyout offers are extended to most of its remaining hourly workers.

I guess it is not going down after all. Who would of guessed?

Yes, Delphi lost over 4 bucks a share, and trades now at 1.50 a share.

The bad news: Delphi is losing money, went bankrupt, and the shares are trading at a buck and a half a share.

The good news: In March, you could have bought Delphi shares at just 42 cents. Now it is worth a buck and a half.

And the 4.29 a share loss represents a huge charge for buyouts of all those thousands of employees who no longer have jobs.

As the artilce said: "The red ink is an improvement over 2004, when the company had a net loss of $4.8 billion, or $8.59 per share."

Result: The people making $11 an hour now at Delphi are making your car's brake pads. Does that make you feel better?

Markets are dropping pretty good. It seems that a number of factors are all working together (oil supplies just reported down, for example). If the fear persists we will overshoot and have a good chance of a bounce tomorrow. (All we need is a little good earnings news to jump back up.)

On the other hand, these short-term factors may melt away and the market recover this afternoon.

Given the trading deadline we live with, anyone want to guess??
