Market News

Oh brother, there's almost always a slide when that guy opens his mouth. I should have cashed out yesterday.
You took the words right out of my mouth... "no news is good news" is how I feel about Bernanke. I would rather not hear anything. I wonder if anyone has done a study of how much profit could be made if an inverse fund was bought before he started speaking and sold at the end of the day after he is finished.
I guess I shouldn't stress and expect the worst, right? Maybe he will have some positive news for the markets today.

Re: why tomorrow?

Do you think the people watching him speak are clapping because he said something intelligent? or maybe just because he is Done talking. So happy to see him move the S&P almost a full % lower.

Nice early positive news from WMT (walmart) stating they have seen their best black friday ever. Traffic in their stores is higher than last year. Im not sure about best black friday "ever," but it is nice to see positive retail news. That, plus the positive news out of EU and China should help finish this week strong and hopefully carry over into next week.

Congratulations to anyone in here who might have owned Acadia Pharmaceuticals ACAD. Great news out regarding one of their drugs and now the stock is up over 200% premarket.

Averages lower following Reid's comments on lack of cliff progress
The averages have all moved lower after Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid expressed his disappointment that little progress has been made in talks to reach a deal to avoid the fiscal cliff. Advancing stocks are still ahead of decliners by a narrow ratio. The volume balance on the NYSE is fairly even, though on the Nasdaq up volume is leading down volume by a fair margin. With about an hour and a half remaining in the trading day, the Dow is down 75 points, the Nasdaq is down 5 points and the S&P is down 5 points.

I think they're gonna get it done before the deadline, but cause some drama in the process. The fiscal cliff is just a bogeyman created by the media to scare the public.
