LTJPFED's Account Talk

I think, probably am wrong, we have came all the way back from the losses that were dished out since the start of the war.

Don't feel bad, most people feel that way, mainly because the market visually looks extremely high. But the pullback was certainly happening long before the actual invasion occurred. We have actually recovered about half the losses. A ways to go and much to navigate.
I don't know you LTJPFED but risk is an appetite that is reflected in ones age, health, work plans etc. Lots of folks that have been around since the 08 crash I'm sure are squirming in their seat. The last 12 or so years, besides a few bumps, made investing look easy. We have gotten used to constantly rising markets, $$$ gains for all. This pullback was a reminder, stay nimble.

So I pulled the trigger, made a move today so COB:
40G 30C 30S

For whatever reason I could not bring myself to jump with both feet, had to keep some on dry land. Probably silly since this was my 1st move of the month, I could have just jumped all in. But this way if we do have even more of a negative reaction to all the earnings and other headlines, I could add the rest before the end of the month. Just not sure I want to stay long as the ups and downs do not seem to last long. I was also concerned about a reversal, like we have seen other days. We shall see. Wish me luck!

Well transaction did not happen. Guess I entered to close to the noon timeframe. By my clock it was 11:59 and after I submitted it was noon. Never happened to me before but such is life. Guess it wasn't meant to be for me to be in. I assume I can cancel the transaction before noon today since it won't happen until tonight? Or if by noon we reverse direction perhaps I could let it ride? Haven't hit the cancel button yet. Just mulling it over.

How do I fix my auto tracker on the site to show I did not have a move? Or is that even possible? Being so close to the end of the month I guess it isn't a big deal.
Whole thing is frustrating. I will never again wait until 11:59 to try and make a move. Live and learn.

Mulling is completed. I cannot stomach letting that transfer go through so I cancelled the IFT. Missed the deadline perhaps for a reason. No point in overthinking this and if I miss some bounces then so be it. Trend is still down and even though my lily pad has some odd growth on it (I think that is JPOW teasing me to move some over to equities) I will continue to sit and watch. Staying in G.

Rolling the dice...

Hoping for a 2-3 day bounce at least, maybe get a few percentage points of gains before the TSP lockdown. Not much else to say in this crazy market.
Best wishes all! Hope your having a great week.

Hope it works out!

Did you do it ????

Sorry Epic, I did make that move. I stayed a bit longer than I was thinking I would but at this point I'll take the gain.

Hoping that today finishes in the green as well.

Making a move to 100G today. With JPOW speaking today who knows where this goes and with our cutoff this is a really tough decision. Was hoping for a turnaround Tuesday so it appears that this could end the day in the green but who knows. I am like others that do not want to be in C/S when the TSP system is down. I know we still have some time for that but where do the markets go after today? Still so much negative out there, some may be already built in, some may not be. I do not want to take that chance to miss locking in a few percentage points at this point. I'm ok with sitting on the sidelines again waiting to find another entry point. Almost considered keeping 10% in C and S but with the TSP system going down at the end of this month I just think for me personally I do not want to risk that.

So again 100G COB

Best of luck all

After reading back over some of the information on TSP my interpretation of this shutdown is it will be for just next week. Maybe I'm reading into this but the information says they are suspending investment changes toward the end of the transition period starting tonight and it will be a brief time. Then the next paragraph stats for "several days". Put that together with the info that says will be down through 1st week of June and my assumption is we will be back up and running by Monday June 6th. Maybe I'm wrong but just my interpretation of this.

Sorry I forgot to add the wording they posted:

we'll need to temporarily suspend investment changes toward the end of the transition period

also
we'll need to suspend all TSP transactions for several days beginning on May 26

I'm sure someone else will post about this today, however, I just set up my new TSP log in. I had to call the the TSP line to get some assistance because when I was trying to set up everything the system did not like my photo for my drivers license. You have to provide a drivers license or passport photo. So got through first thing this morning and got some walk through. I was using to small of a photo as it was not clear enough for the system.

It does take about 5-10 mins to set up your account. Again I had to call in due to an issue with my photo. You have to use a larger enough picture for the system to read it and don't crop out too much. LOL directions are so important to read.

It was my 1st time ever using the thrift line but there were not issues once I confirmed I was the owner of the account.

I was in the TSP site earlier just to get my account established but have not really browsed around too much. I can tell you it is different. I guess being so used to the old set up it will take some time to get used to.

??? I didn't have to provide a photo, I just set up a new password and pin and security questions and I was in.
I'm having trouble figuring out how to change my monthly installment payment. I turn 62 this month, so I'm about to lose my FERS supplement and need to up the amount of my monthly payment to make up for it.
I'm assuming it's under the "partial distribution" option, and I see that apparently your spouse can do an electronic signature rather than having to submit the dumb TSP-95 form with a notarized signature, so that's a positive change.

I see that fund share prices still aren't updated, argh.

Thanks for the "Heads-Up". I haven't tried it yet, and I also wasn't aware of these extra steps. I thought you could just log right in like always. I guess they just can't leave well enough alone. :sigh:

I attempted to initiate my account using phone but it wouldn't work so that's when I was prompted to add the extra layer for identifying by entering the DL or Passport.

I have not looked into the transactional data elements yet.

Also noticed cannot find share prices as of earlier this morning. The system isn't calculating returns either from what I've seen.

One important additional note...you can make changes to your "allocation mix" today, so that's back and Tom will need to re-open the tracker for that today.
The deadline remains noon eastern time.

Tsunami I tried to make a transfer and it would not allow me. The change investment mix did not work either.

"You are limited to 2 fund transfers/reallocations, including transfers in or out of the MFW each month. You
may only move money into your G Fund until the beginning of next month."

I'm confused. What is this limit transferring to the "G" fund?
