JTH's Account Talk

Mr. Market, thank you for your continued down-slide it is most appreciated on my part.

Congress, please take your time, continue your bickering, and let Mr. Market run it's course.

I aim on buying cheap in October ;)

What a fake rally, and I'm gonna be pissed if Congress pushes this package through before October.

Good morning, I hope everyone had a nice relaxing weekend!

In regards to TSP, nothing gives me more satisfaction then watching the markets bomb while I'm sitting happily in the G-Fund ;) I hope all my TSP buddies are safely tucked away with me...

May we have a week where we have no desire to immediately use our 1st IFTs.

Holy crapola!!!

I go hiking up in the mountians for a few hours and the market tank!:blink::(

Month in review

You know it's a tough month when I make spot #20 on September's tracker with a .40% Congrats to the top returns who spanked the market with their impeccable timing.

My strategy for October is simple.

35% @ S&P 1161 yesterday.
35% @ S&P 1114 Today.

Get out above 1161 as early as possible and ride the G train. It's not pretty but I'd rather be in and out quickly because I feel that the downside risk has bigger odds over the upside.

Good luck everyone ;)

I'm with you JTH...get out above 1161....at least 50% anyway. Too scary! Of course, this could change with a big ass rally tomorrow!

CP, it sounds like we both are thinking the same thing, the only difference being I used up both my IFTs and therfore have a lower price target. I'll admit I was somewhat perplexed when you went all in on your first IFT? But your strategies have been sound and you've kicked azz on setting and implementing your price objectives.

You rarely falter and it's been paying off. Hell if I had your returns I'd have stayed in G since June! But I'm playing catch-up and trying not to take the big hits in the process.

Either ways I always enjoy your inputs and the assertiveness you project. I'm sure your success has trickled down and others have gained from your insight so whatever you're doing keep it up!!! :D

Lord help us all, I'm over 100 S&P points below my proposed exit of 1161.

Tough Monday, let's hope this market is bottoming today.

So the big question is are stocks cheap or were they overpriced to begin with? I wish I had some serious cash to buy some stocks. Some of these company's haven't seen prices this low since the 80s.

As an example Ford is now @ 3.69 and you have to go back to July of 1984 to find prices that low!

The buy and holders have taken it in the shorts.

As for me I'm down -4.98% MTD, but luckily I left 30% in G. I'm still looking to exit above 1161. At this point I'll settle for a flat day!

Good Luck My Friend ! ;)

Good golly can this market get any more depressing?

From January to September I was down -8.12%

In the first 5 trading days of October I lost -8.78%

YTD -16.09% I keep waiting for a bounce... :laugh::(:worried:

I'm getting my beer on...

JTH, did you go hiking in the mountains again or something?? Why'd you make the markets tank? :)

I'll tell ya what I just don't know what to think of this market. This is something I'll be able to tell my grandkids. :worried:

Heck I thought things were bad when I lost over 6% in May and June. This is just crazy!!!

Boy Oh Boy, how long can this "being wrong" streak get !

This reality is getting hard to deal with. The S&P 500 has to hit 1143 just for me to break even. As of this writing that's 161 point away! When was the last time we saw a 161 point gain within a month?

Tsk tsk, I may have to bail early, hopefully on a bounce...

I remember the SPX going up as much as 70 points in one day back in July '02 - but I have never seen it drop by 120 points until that eventful Monday.

I'd love to see that happen in Oct., but this is a different time. Maybe with the short selling ban removed...markets will improve. What do I know, since I jumped in 100 percent in Oct 1. & 2 thinking things were going to get better. :worried: Got to figure out how to get my own thread.
