Here's14U's Account Talk

Good Morning; :)
Okay, I had to do this as this is to much fun. I added one more column the ST 11am Read. ST stands for Short Term, LT for Long Term. The Long Term 11am Reading with its 13 day moving average is a trend following system. As long as the LT 11am Reading stays above its 13 day moving average things are looking good so you can hold the fund.
OB and OS stand for Overbought and Oversold. For example, > (greater than) +.45 is dangerously overbought, < (less than) -.45 is very oversold for the C fund. These numbers are good for both the LT 11am reading as well as the ST 11am reading. Keep an eye on the OB and OS ranges and where the 11am readings are in relation to them. Right now for example, the C-fund is still bullish longer term (rising 13 day moving average) of the 11am LT reading. The Short Term 11 am reading is at a +.16 which is climbing to +.45 but not there yet for a sell. Anything close to +.45 would still be dangerously overbought and ripe for a pull back so I would definitely take money off the table even at around +.40. This will help you to keep you on the right side of the market, either in it or out of it.
Good Luck to all! 14U.

How to use the above chart & Recommendation Explanations;
There are only a few columns to the table. The Current Trend and Recommendation column is based on the relationship between the 11am Reading and its 13 day moving average. If the 11am Reading is higher in value than its respective 13 day moving average than an up trend is in force and you should be in the fund. If the 11am Reading starts to stall at its overbought range or goes down in value towards its climbing respective 13 day moving average than a change in trend (to down) is on the horizon. You should then think of selling the fund.
One other thing left to consider with the table below. In order to know if the 11 am Reading is nearing or in Over Bought or Over Sold territory, I’ve entered two more columns. To avoid confusion, OB Range means Overbought Range and OS Range means Over Sold Range in the column headings. For the C fund, for example an 11am Reading greater than +.45 would fall into the Over Bought range so think about selling or at least lightening up on shares. An 11am Reading Less than -.45 would fall into the Over Sold range so think about buying the fund or Dollar cost averaging into it. The best timing signals are given when 11 am readings are in Overbought or Oversold ranges and the 13 day moving average flattens out and starts to move in the opposite direction. Of course in a bear market stock prices can turn on a dime so I’m not sure if I would wait that long to sell. I think the first day I see the 11am Reading fall, that would be my day to sell as most of the move has already taken place. The flattening 13 day moving average sequence seems to work best when forming a bottom.
UP-HOLD - It’s fine to hold this fund as higher prices are expected.
GETTING OVERBOUGHT - Time to start thinking about selling the fund. The11am Reading is peaking or has already peaked in its overbought range.
DOWN-AVOID - Trend is down at this time. Avoid this fund for now.
GETTING OVERSOLD - Time to start thinking about buying the fund. The 11am Reading is bottoming or has already bottomed in its oversold range.

Good Morning; :)
C, S, and I 11am LT Readings may have peaked yesterday as they are little lower today. Those readings are still above their respective 13 day moving averages but are starting to head down now which is a cautionary signal. They didn’t quite hit their respective Overbought parameters but the I and S funds did get close to them. We are still in an up trend but the markets will have to snap back up from here, hopefully Monday. For me I’m heading back to the F-fund in the tracker from S & I funds.
Good Luck to all! 14U.

This would be my first IFT. I think you are right about the F fund. It may do better in the short run than the G. I was thinking of moving 50% out of G into F? Any comment??

Thanks, Dave

Be very careful about the F fund. With the Fed. meeting next week you could see a interest rate increase which would not be good for the F fund.

Jeff

Real strict. If you don't make the IFT by 11:59 EDT, Your IFT wont take affect until Tuesday.

An IFT after 12 NOON today would be posted COB Monday, not Tuesday. He would get Monday's prices.

Wind Hunter said won't take affect.... He is correct. Not sure what you mean by "get Monday's prices."

If you make a move today after the deadline, your moving for Tuesday's action. Your move will not take affect until Monday COB.

Jeff

That's what I said. It's effective COB Monday, meaning Monday's prices as posted COB on TSP site.

Good Morning;
C, S, and I funds are snapping back today keeping the rally alive. Watch the ST11am Read in coming days for an overbought situation. Also as we work higher the LT11am Readings will start to move close to or above their overbought (OB) parameters.
Good Luck to all! 14U.

BULLISH CROSSOVER - 11am LT reading moves above its respective falling 13 day moving average implying higher prices ahead.
BEARISH CROSSOVER - 11am LT reading moves below its respective rising 13 day moving average implying lower prices ahead.

Good Morning; :)
You will notice that the numbers are different this morning except for the last column which is the same. This system is still evolving, hopefully for the better for TSP’ers. The LT Trend and Recommendation have not changed and still remain in up trends for all funds. The 11am LT Reading and the 13 day moving average numbers for each fund have changed, to give a wider cyclical swing to allow for a longer holding period for each fund (weeks). The rules still remain the same, if the 11am LT read drops below its respective 13 day moving average, time to sell. Currently the C, S, I, funds remain above their respective 13 day moving averages so all continue to be Holds at this time. The F-fund signaled a Bearish Crossover today meaning its LT read dropped below its 13 day moving average, so expect lower prices. Notice when the ST 11am read goes negative, it’s a good day to buy during this bear market up trend. Again, there are no guarantees that the 11am LT Readings will reach and/or go above their Overbought Parameter. They did go that high the last time we rallied so hopefully they will again. I’m confident in saying they can still head higher for a few weeks.
Good Luck to all! 14U.

If the 11am LTReading is higher in value than its respective 13 day moving average than an up trend is in force and you should be in the fund. If the 11am Reading starts to stall at or near overbought parameter or goes below its 13 day moving average than a change in trend (to down) is on the horizon. You should then think of selling the fund.
One other thing left to consider with the table above. In order to know if the 11 am Reading is nearing or in Over Bought or Over Sold territory, I’ve entered two more columns. To avoid confusion, OB Par means Overbought Parameter (column) and OS Par means Over Sold Parameter (column) as column headings. For the C fund, for example an 11am Reading greater than +.60 would be at the Over Bought parameter so think about selling or at least lightening up on those shares. An 11am Reading Less than -1.10 would be at the Over Sold Parameter so think about buying the fund or Dollar cost averaging into it. The best timing signals are given when 11 am readings are in Overbought or Oversold ranges and the 13 day moving average flattens out. I think the first day I see the 11am Reading fall at or above its Overbought Parameter I would be selling. The flattening 13 day moving average sequence seems to work best when forming a bottom.
The ST (short term (days)) 11am Reading tells you if you are Overbought or Oversold. The more positive a reading is the more overbought the market is. The more negative the reading is the more oversold the market is. During a longer term up trend (LT 11am Reading above its 13 day moving average) the Short term reading will stay mostly positive with minor dips below 0 (buy points). During a longer term down trend (LT 11 am Reading below its 13 day moving average) the Short term reading will stay mostly negative with up days nearing 0 as shorting opportunities.

BEARISH CROSSOVER - 11am LT reading moves below its respective rising 13 day moving average implying lower prices ahead.

Sounds like the (F) Fund has been hanging around my wife too long !
Darn,,,,,,,Hope she doesn't read this ! :embarrest:

I noticed you made an IFT into C/S/I (20/60/20) today, but your account talk entry does not mention you made this IFT. Is this just an oversight? I know that members would like to know the moves you make in the autotracker.

Good Morning; :)
I was waiting for a down day in the C, S, and I funds to get back in. Yesterday was the day, so today I am 20C, 20I, 60S. I was in the F fund for a while after selling out of the stock funds with the previous system. I still believe we have a ways to go on the upside for the stock funds.
C-fund, back up from yesterday’s drubbing ST reading +.23 mildly overbought. LT trend still Up-Hold.
S-Fund, back up from yesterday’s drubbing, ST reading +.24 mildly overbought. LT trend still Up-Hold.
I-Fund, down today, should come back Monday. ST reading -.12 oversold. LT trend still Up-Hold
F-Fund, turned bullish. ST reading +.03 neutral. LT trend Up-Hold.
Good Luck to all! 14U.
