Handballer's Account Talk

I have talked to many Vietnam veterans that came here in the 1960s and 1970s on military assignment. They stayed here. Others moved here upon release from military. Yes many weren't treated well upon return to the states; they were just during their duty. I was reasigned to Hawaii and didn't suffer any resentment.

Handballer, this morning I posted a `Vietnam' note about Admiral Denton
going to be speaker at a Marine Corps Heritage Foundation luncheon tomorrow in Triangle, VA to talk about his book "When Hell was in Session."
I wondered if just anyone could go, and if anyone was interested.
For the non-military, and Young-young board members, Denton was a POW of the Vietcong, & signaled `tortured' in Morse Code by blinking.
His book has been oo print, but WND.com bookstore has re-issued it.
It is good to have Non-fiction books written with truthfullness about the Vietnam vets & what they encountered. I wish there were more written about the Korean war/conflict, too.

Grandma -- there is no way they would turn you away

You're everything any Soldier could ever hope to find and if ever you have my heart and appreciation -- you have it now.

Thanks for being who you are !! You're one of the very few

Grandma Thanks for the info about the luncheon and Admiral Denton. I couldn't afford to attend unless all expenses paid. Even then, going to a place with snow doesn't interest me. I forgot the name of POW that sent the morse code message.

Did you have coffee to go with it ??

Hi Steady. No coffee for me. Never drank a cup in my life.

You aren't IN Alaska? Or was that a:  :D  ??

The note about Admiral Denton (the Morse Code Blinker) was an FYI - I thought it sounded fun - & wondered if any of those local were sharp enough to pull off a gate-crashing! .... I am positive it was an `invitation only" affair!!! Too many feet of snow to want to be out, though!!

Alaska = 49th state (snow ain't so bad....)
Hawaii = 50th state

?? and .... ???

I have/had (we haven't heard from him in years) who ran a hunting guide/lodge business up there - I've even forgotten where it was out of -
He was retired Navy - picked up a permanent stomach bug/bacteria/whatever back in the '50's while stationed in/at Japan or maybe Indonesia -
couldn't drink milk.. 'course, he could'a been pulling this youn'uns leg, then, too.:D

COB today: G 96%, C 3%, S 1%. I made this move before reading Steady's post. I just can't seem to time these moves right.

#28 on the Tracker with gain of 2.73%.

Wow - not one drop of 'Lifer Juice' in all those years.

You're a better man than I. :cheesy:

I've got a donut shop right across the street from our VAMC -- that most seem to think is even beyond the Krispy Kreme donuts ... but I'm sure I could get the KK if you prefer them.

So I've got to admit I thought about sending you a box quite a few times since reading your message. When is your birthday and your daughter's birthday and I'll send a box then --- but will send one now since I'm in the mood.

You've really got to take advantage of that -- cause catching me in the mood is pretty important; it's by far your best chance of getting something.

Seriously, I'd be glad to do it and if you've got some favorites just PM me the address and what kind you want.

One Condition -- and usually -- I think of some string to attach.

Neine dishgutten flimmar bis walshshen -- pronounced NINE DISH GOUTEN FLY MER BIS WALSH SHIN
( I totally made all this up -- off the top)

So you have to tell everyone that I'm an old Army buddy you met from Finland and this is a saying you heard me use a million times in the past. It means 'There is nothing like a fresh donut' --- and in Finland it is widely 'BELIEVED' that by imparting this saying -- somehow a Donut will always have a Freshness like 'Brand New'.

The secret here is I work with the Brain -- it's basically all I do -- and I know the 'Power' of thought -- of belief. SO -- you really need to play this up and say it like it's a saying you've known for ages. IF your DAUGHTER -- and others -- buy into this -- and they say this as soon as they pick up a donut -- IT WILL TASTE FRESH !!!

Down the line this saying may spread across the country and get back to me someday.

So -- does that sound worth your while ???

Either way -- please do PM - where I send them and I'd be glad to send another box.

COB today: G 96%, C 2%, S 2%. Now #26 on the Tracker.:) Expect a loss today.:(

One IFT remaining this month and will use it Friday.

Good luck everyone!

Currently: 94% G, C 3%, S 3%.
Now #46 on the Tracker.
Since 2/11th only one day w/loss (2/23rd .07%).
Planning for IFT eff Monday, Mar 8th, 50% each C,S,I.

Don't we have anything better to do on a Saturday than this? I'm more or less snowed in.

I started week #36 on the tracker and after gaining .28% this week ended up at #83. Not bad with a small investment.:p

Unfortunately sugarandspice will undoubtedly bump you from your #83 tracker spot by the end of the week. Did you notice how fast amoeba took on the Tokyo Drift down to #184.

If I can gain another .28% next week sugarandspice can have my spot, even I drift down to yours. Amoeba has depended too much on the F fund and it has failed her. She also has submited about 10 IFTs this year that have not worked in her favor. I wish all these fine ladies better luck in the future.:)

I need to put the 70% I have in the G fund to better use. I'll work on that.

Close of business Friday: C fund 40%, S fund 55%, and I fund 5%. If I had another 20% I would add it to the I fund.:D

If I have a good week in the TSP and my ET accounts next week, I'll probably move up to the 5th richest person in North America. That would put me about 4,000,027 places above Burchtree. I remember how it was being being poor.

Got up late today and missed the IFT deadline. Come Friday I like

G - 25%
C - 30%
S - 40%
I - 5%

If CSI continues to perform well, I'll shove more into the G fund this month and hope to come back next month with lower prices.
