That's the sign - pain and fear. If you get an uncontrollable urge to get out of stocks at any cost, fight it because that means we are at the bottom. If you don't feel that way yet, get out. Until the herd gets that"get me out!" attitude,we will keep going down.

Does that make sense? Fight your instincts. Some argue that point with me but I think that is what makes a successful market timer. You have to go against the herd.

No, I dont think we're near the bottom yet, with more interest ratehikes ahead. How does 100G sound? NormallyI wont consider100G but it sounds really good because I'm not waiting much longer to bail out on this awful situation. I'm not pleased that my retirement money is going to waste. We're now down to no profit for this calendar year except the G fund. March 2005 has been aterrible month to invest in the stock market.Even the I fund has dropped below the December 31st level.Currently 20g,15c,20c,20s,25i.

Uh, oh.:end: Fear is starting to creep in. :D

I guess my "go against your instincts" speech didn't impress you. :)

imported post

:PHi, don't know if you were addressing risky, or me, but I am impressed!

The only problem is, I normally tend to be one to take lots of risk, on anything I do. I've always been a decision maker, not a fence jumper.

But lately I've been worried because I have a disability that could force me to retire sooner than I had planned.

I think that makes my instinct suspect.

However, I am very impressed with your advice.

Thanks

Gawga

Your a trader, tell me what you think is going to happen. Think ahead of the market. So if Houston has a problem what is it? Will it have the same problem tomorrow or will it fix it. Look at what has happened in the last two days, Tuesday looked like we were going to lose everything and then boom were up by the end of day, huge swing. Today down and we lose our gains and more now what do you do? Two huge swings usually means this thing is going up or down. It depends on who wins the battle. Give me that woman's intuition, I am listening.

Today was the 13th

For the S&P, support is felt to be at 1163, and resistance at 1202. However, we are still stuck in a trading range. At least until a catylist can break us free.

At USATODAY Market one of the comments was: Massocca, who called the selling "irrational despondency on the part of the market" thinks stocks are getting close to a bottom.

That seem a fairly understatement. Of course when you drain the pool, it's bound to have a bottom!

Rgds! :) Spaf

I'm an accountant. Accountant's don't have any intuition. We only work well with numbers two or three years after the fact.

I can only tell you this.....I ain't selling!

And, speaking of "ain't selling," where is Rolo? Did ya'll kick him to the curb?

Sounds like the voice of determination! LoL! Rolo is being kicked by the I fund and possibly the stock market right now but he might recover! Time heals all.

I'm curious to see how all this gloom and doom talk about the economy, since undesirable quarterly reports, will affect you guys......

Even my husband's local bank stock is down $2 per share. Interestingly enough, he just told me orders are up at his business!

Watching and waiting,

Gawga;)

I still have to side with the "irrational despondency" as a factor, plus all the media hype. Any bad news gets attention. Good news is silent. Some health care stock is doing ok, i.e., [IXJ]. This is where the limitations of TSP kind of show through unless you consider the G-fund. ;)

:)Peck.....peck.....peck. Is it okay for Henny Penny to come outside now?

Hubby says he thinks economy is sliding - what ya'll think?

LOL! You can only come out it your not trying to stick 14 eggs in a one dozen carton. Has hubby ever been right before. How good is his track record. It depends on which side of the economy is slipping just like in the stock market. Hey Gawga how did you like my peanut joke. Was it tasteless?

imported post

:P Sorry Hank, did not see the joke ......but if you told it, it had to be (tasteless.) Keep up the good work!

Speaking of Hubby, he is ultra-conservative - I think he keeps all his money under the mattress, LOL. Being a small businessman, he constantly sweats bullets. We got married in 2001, in the depth of the recession. He would get really PO'd when people would say there was no recession.
