Dr Faustus's Account Talk

Boy, Oh Boy!!! When Ebb left the Tsptalk web, and took his boatload of followers with him, he sure left a dent in the web sight. Seems that most of the high rollers (which I used to confirm Ebb's moves to determine my IFTs by) went with Ebb and quit posting their moves. The TSPtalk web site is so disjointed now, with everyone trying not to post anything that will give away what the pay-for-view sites are posting, that most of the information and posts have little value or don't make much sense. Just because a person subscribes to Ebb's site, doesn't mean he/she can't post their personal moves. Their moves are their moves and they should have the right to post them. I can't believe that everyone that subscibes to Ebb follows him blindly without using their own system and intellect, as well. Looks like, in Dr. F's case, we lost his system as well as Ebbs. And his system and moves are different than Ebb's in a lot of cases. How many more of the top gainers are going to cross over and not post their IFTs for fear that they might divulge what is happening in the Ebb site? This makes it almost impossible to get any meaningful information from the TSPtalk site...cause even the administrator has abondoned his followers and won't post his moves. It's fine to get the insight behind the moves, but some of us can't understand the IFT impact of all that market talk. We want to know the bottom line impact of all that information because such and such happened. That is how we learn. That helps us know whether we should be moving to the 'X' fund, or the 'Y' fund. Maybe the entire TSPtalk web site should become a pay for view, and bring Ebb and Fred and Joe Smoo and whoever else has a system that is working back into TSPtalk so we won't have to keep going to all these other off shoot sites to get the information we used to get on the TSPtalk web site. I would be willing to pay for that.

This whole dialogue is kind of mute to me, because I plan to join Ebb and think Ebb and Fred deserve to be compensated for their time. I am willing to pay for it, and when I return from my 2 week TDY trip, I will. But I feel like the other member (who have joined the site to learn are being forced go to Ebb's site. I planned on doing that anyway, but I don't want people to be forced to do it just to make some sense out of this web site. We all were learning a lot from this site, but now I feel TSPtalk has lost it's purpose.

I know some of you will say...OK, fine don't bother to view the site. You are not being forced to look at it. But I feel we have lost something really special to the TSP members that was really helpful. I liked the dialogue, I liked to see the top producers jockeying their positions to be number one. I liked to see the success of the top producers and them sharing their ideas. They were still making tons of money and it didn't cost them anything to share their ideas with us. And it did help all of us.

And EW_Ret...I know you don't want to hear what I have to say...You have told me that plenty of times, but please don't edit this message out of view because you don't what to hear it...maybe someone else does!!!

I hear ya bud. Look at it this way, now we get to separate the wheat from the chaff (i.e. those with a legit system versus those riding on Ebbs coat tails). Less quantity, more quality. Change is good.

You are talking about two different subjects. I regret you formed this opinion of me, but I have the responsibility of tracking TSP fund transfers of our members in the trackers. Your opinion on how members should post to their accounts interfered with my job of tracking. You have every right to voice you opinion on how going to the premium services has created a vacuum of EbbChart discussion. We are striving to work through these turbulent times by improving the site for all our members. Your opinion voices the disappointment of some members and that needs to be heard.

I never gave any attention to either the Ebbchart or Trader Fred so I'm not experiencing any loss of any kind. Nothing different in my pasture. I prefer to do my own research, take my own hits and make my own money.

Birch, if Tom ever makes your system subscription based, I will be terribly disappointed. Keep up the good work. ;)

Really? I guess I have to disagree... seems to be plenty of conversation. And lots of new participants. The market is the market, and there is plenty to talk about. This has never been "the Ebb site"... It's TSPtalk.

Tom could probably give us actual numbers, but I would be surprised if there was any substantial drop in traffic. So, let's quit whining and get on with the business of the discussion of making money! :)

Ebb site...no way. I'm not an expert but can hold my own. Have to check but prob outperfom ebb or pretty close. 100% S fund for tomorrow! free for all!

I have been using Ebbchart for 3 months now and am making more profit than if I had gone it alone. At first I made alternative moves (not believing Ebbchart) based on my feelings and have been wrong 65% of the time. I can keep using my own "feelings" based on my research and keep making my lowly 20% or blindly be led by Ebbchart and make 30%. Hmmmmm I can retire 2 years (or more) early at 30%.

Another thing is I am very busy at work and come home, do yard work, watch between 2-9 grandkids, etc. I really don't have the time for research any more. I'll let someone else do that for me, pay my $15.95, and make more. I'll still keep an eye on things, just not as much.

I feel your pain. I haven't jump on the EBB ship, yet. but the way this site has changed since 9/1 has me looking to do so. So many of the top posters have seemingly abandoned their postings on the public site. Several of the folks I was tracking haven't posted in several weeks, so they have either joined Birchtree and become b&h'ers or they don't post anymore. Not that there isn't any one to follow out there, there are several new folks that have alot of knowledge but the site is going thru a sea change and it is different now. Not necessarily better or worse just different and will take some getting use to. I have watched this site for almost a year and am getting comfortable with it and now its almost like a new site, that is frustrating. A year from now, if the site survives in its present state, there will be other ebbs. But if the process is to take anyone who develops a following and turn them into a pay per view, I just wonder if this site can survive as a public one. The trackers seemingly have lost a lot of their validity as so many folks aren't really active. My thanks to Tom and everyone who makes this site possible. Its a lot of hard work and they deserve any thing they can gain from the board. My 2 cents.

It's kinda like the NFL Channel. $15.95 seems to be an increasingly better deal... providing Carlos Slim doesn't buy him out mid term.

Dr. F (if your still out there) Does this mean that you are no longer going to use your two day system for tracking and posting? When I am on Ebb's site with you, does that mean that you will no longer discuss your posts and your strategy? I have learned a lot from you and would like to continue hearing your strategies of ways to make better IFTs. Are all the folks that are in the pay for view sites not able to discuss strategies and different options? or is it just everybody does what the pay for views say to do with no discussion? If the answer is yes to these questions, we have all lost a really great resource.

I agree with Runningfool, the TSPtalk web site has changed a lot since 9/1. But not for the better in my book. The discussions that are meaningful and educational have gone away. I can only hope that Ebb will start them up on his web site. But if that happens, this web site will lose it's draw for sure, and we might as well just visit Ebb's site. Not that he has all the knowledge and wisdom, even though his site is very profitable, but because on that site, there can be open discussion about how and when to trade like there used to be on this site.

Change is inevitable, and life goes on. We will just have to wait to see how it all pans out. And SkyPilot, I am not whinning, I am just pointing out my observations and frustrations....for what it's worth.

By the way...The Colorado Rockies just won the NL pennant by sweeping both the Phillies and the Diamondbacks. World series, here we come.

Have a great evening!

My observations is, "it sounds like whining"... for what it's worth.

To continue to vent your frustration over what you seem to percieve as "a bad thing" will effect no positive change.

Instead, why don't you make more positive contributions and work to remediate what you feel is a loss. Or, is it just grumbling you are intersted in?

Sky:

It seems you are coming out a little harsh and too defensive. We have to admit it is transition time and uncertainty never bode well with human nature. Let's preserve the goodness in all of us and let's hope that this rocking of the boat shall soon pass.

I am really thankful that I found this MB when I did and met the core of people I met. Many are still here and some are gone. The attitude was different. I guess they were more tolerant and understood that people need time to learn and to get adjusted.

Thank you for all you do.

Sky: It seems you are coming out a little harsh and too defensive.

Defensive? Maybe... but I have nothing that I am trying to defend, so I don't understand your comment in that regard.

Harsh, maybe... but then again, it gets tiresome when people can't let go... this isn't group therapy for those who are suffering loss issues.

Put the paddle in the water, and let's row together to enhance the site, rather than repeatedly offering critcisms that are not helpful, useful or constructive.

Hey, I'm still here ...

My sister came to town yesterday and I played chauffer for the day, taking her to the places she wanted to see here in Tucson. Which meant that I was without access for the entire day.

Now that I have regained access to the EbbChart data patterns, I am using the "two-day system" as a guide to make my moves. I'd happy to give a copy of my spreadsheet to any who want it (it's small) - if you have access to Ebb's daily patterns, you can update it yourself.

For what its worth, the two-day patterns called the down-turn on Monday but Tuesday's continued slide was a shocker. Still, I lost less than Ebb on that day as well.

Am still looking for ideas on how to post moves but unless Tom opens up an "Ebb-only" board, I think we're out of luck on that score.

Dr. F, I would also appreciate a copy of your spreadsheet.
I am new to the board, seems I got here right at the transition to the pay services. I am still learning and trying to absorb all this information. Thanks.
