Whitney says she's sure of a coming muni bond default but the counter view is that unfunded pension liabilities are the big problem and aren't a structural short term shortage. If that's true, then the Federal borrowed monies passed to the states for pension funding in the stimulus bill could be recalled, huh? And then used to extend the debt limit deadline? :D

Wow! Thanks, crws, for the slides! Can't you just imagine the excitement those dogs are feeling when their handler/buddy starts to strap on their equipment! - and to jump out of planes, Whoa!
- they have to love what they are doing, knowing they are doing Their Job, and then the gratification for doing it! If we could be so well disciplined, how much happier we would be! (see the writings of Paul of Tarsus).
So, anyway, reading the comments afterwards, I was grateful for the Rangers and others who responded to the ignorants with the facts of going to Police Dept at retirement, or adoption by their handler - It was sad to read that we left them behind in Vietman, what kind of debriefing was that for them.... Expensive little dudes, aren't they! But who could put a price on our solders' lives?
Thanks again...

I read an article in the Cleveland Plain Dealer this morning that talked about the dog that was with the SEAL team. The article is from the New York Times. Here is part of it and the link. Pretty cool.

A Bin Laden Hunter on Four Legs

By GARDINER HARRIS

Published: May 4, 2011

"The identities of all 80 members of the American commando team who thundered into Abbottabad, Pakistan, and killed Osama bin Laden are the subject of intense speculation, but perhaps none more so than the only member with four legs..."

Home Values See Biggest Drop Since 2008

http://www.cnbc.com/id/42955097

My home's value has been dropping like a rock again since February. I'm also seeing another wave of homeowners in my neighborhood throwing in the towel and opting to do short sales or any other method to stop the insanity of paying a high mortgage on a quickly depreciating asset.

This is in Orlando, FL, which was one of the worst housing markets in the country. Right now my home has a value (according to zillow) of about $151K. In mid-2006 it was near $375K. After more than 7 years of mortgage payments I'm underwater to the tune of about $75K, and I bought this home about 4 years before the peak. In many cases our homes are being priced at early to mid 1990's levels. AND THEY'RE STILL DROPPING!
