i'm looking for a short-term play to pick up a couple percent and then get back out.

my goal is 1% per month. and i'm about 3% behind ytd right now. there is no way i see to pick up 3% in this market right now with only one more trade that has to be out. or partially out with repeated partial retreats. but if i get lucky maybe i can grab 1.5-2% and make up some ground here early in the 2nd half.

or maybe i get dashed on the rocks and go seriously backwards. but that's what rocks are for, getting dashed on. and why my finger is on the trigger. one shot baby, give me one shot.

thanks bog's, this thread was seriously lacking on the technical analysis since you been gone. the only thing i don't understand about your chart is how come po/brazilian isn't lumped in with the thongs? you can't wear a thong without a brazilian. well, you can, but nobody would want to see that.

It was kindof a judgment call on him. And, you all know about my judgment. The last time I had and judgment I spent time in a Mexican jail with dirt floors, but let's not talk about that... Basically, he has 40% of his assets in cash. He is on the bubble, but almost half of his holdings are in the least risky asset we have. At least till the gubmint wants to borrow against it. The rest of the Thong Models ain't got a dime in cash or bonds. See, PO is a very modest fellow - till he isn't.

By the way, the lion is getting a bit hungry. Maybe he will start looking for the weak and wounded. Those are the best tasting. Great Taste, Less Work...

i thought i had cut a good 2% multiday bounce cut out of the herd yesterday and was gonna feast, but i was wrong. i hate it when that happens. but it isn't a total disaster yet and i got some room to give if it turns around.

still long. tomorrow early action is critical.

my trigger finger is itchy. this is gonna be a close one. close to bailing, but if it turns major south then i'll just eat it and be a birchtree investor until it turns around.

I think I am going to try to let the S&P500 correct a few more points and spend some of the G/F on it or the S or the I or a happy mix of the three. I am relatively happy with my sleepy returns in this environment, but if the market - as viewed by the S&P500 - corrects by 7 or 8 points (meaning I have lost 3 or 4 points) than I think I will try my hand with more risk. If it continues to correct to say 12% - 15% than I will start bailing out. I strongly believe we are not heading for a 2008/9. I also do not think this looks like 2011 either. But, you gotta have a plan and you have gotta give the market room to bounce around a bit - or you gotta be out of it...
