burrocrat's Account Talk

I prefer a bikini like Boghie's chart suggests. But here is a pic of my one piece and cover up....for family gatherings. ;-)

Actually got them in the mail this weekend.

jpcavin, the white one suits you well.

Hey man, I had the peddle to the metal since mid-March

ok, i resisted as long as i could, but i just can't let this one go, it's time for a little vocabulary lesson i see.

peddle: to hawk wares or sell.
petal: the colorful part of a flower that opens when they bloom.
pedal: a foot activated acceleration control mechanism typically located on the driver's side floor of an automobile near the firewall.

got it? get it? right.

Hahaha, thanks for the correction!

I spelled 'metal' 'meddle' my first go 'round typing my post, but caught it when I proofed it. Totally missed 'peddle'. But hey, I'm batting .500, not a bad average, eh?

burro's ark weekend update:

the tide is turning.

turtle/amoeba: 3, 2.18, didn't pick the top, went backwards.
mouse/alevin: 3, 0.79%, pickin the middle.
elephant/birchtree: 3, 4.96%, this guy's weathervane is broken.
lion/boghie: 2, 3.60%, didn't pick the top, went backwards.
donkey/burrocrat: 5, 2.54%, hell yeah, bought in at a discount, poppin tags. i feel good about this move. i love pickin bottoms.
racoon/fwm: 3, (5.32%), pickin jth's bottom.
jonfresno/kangaroo: 2, 2.32%, skeered it's the top.
cougar/jpcavin: 3, 4.57%, didn't pick the top.
wolf/jth: 2, 9.02%, lookin for a bottom.
owl/mrbowl: 2, 1.38%, afraid of the bottom.
squirrel/pessoptimist: 5, 3.65%, not afraid it's riding up his bottom. but that must be one hell of a pucker.

el vira: 33. let's see, 55 max - 33 nuetral = 22 point spread. 33 - 33 = 0. 0 / 22 = zip zero nada, 0%. or as msxcel would say, #value. totally bearish.

good luck all, i'm just going to keep wingin it and pickin bottoms.

I see nobody found a photo of me in a bikini from last week. Ok, I take the hint. I am covering myself a bit more modestly now. Lay off with the comments, yowser.

But, what is that flash of white. Is is a bird, is it a tree, is it Burrocrat showing a lot of pale skin. Oh, yes it is.

That was one smooth move. Gazing on the pool deck of the ark and seeing all these folks lounging about in burkas - then, yowser. Fast mover. Gonna make it or break it. A real swinger now!!!

On a more serious note, see how Burro's allocation is less 'risky' than any of the individual equity funds. He took three points off risk while keeping all the normal annual gains. Science... And, I hope Burro makes it. He might be almost nekkid, but he is still wearing more than someone holding 100% in any of the C/S/I funds. And, if he wins big I win modestly. I'll take modest wins and I am happy when folks get the big wins.

yep, you got it mostly figured out boghie. i'm 50% contrarian investor and 100% dirty white boy. it's almost like you know me better than i know myself (and i don't mean in a biblical way, that would just be wrong).

i think you're wrong about the science part though. in my opinion, scientific analysis has very little to do with winning at markets fueled by fractional reserve money magic. it's all about who you know and blow. i'm just trying to scim a little off the top.

thanks for the potty humor konakathy, that always cheers me up, but i'm more of a bathe au naturale type.

my favorite movie from the '80's is 'the blue lagoon'.

did you know that it was filmed in the bahamas and they were cousins?

at first i thought that was a little creepy (not the bahamas part), but then i thought 'hey, i've seen 3 of my cousins' boobs'. no my cousin doesn't have 3 boobs. 3 cousins, that makes 6.

and silly me, i wasted the opoortunities. all i could think about at the time was 'oh god i hope my aunt don't walk in right now and tell my mom'.

bonus vocabulary lesson:

muck: mire, mud, drivel, such as found in the colloquial hogwaller.

amock: unrestrained, without care, free, and easy.

big whoop. +0.11% yesterday. yay me.

i would rather have seen -1% down or 2% up, some kind of volatility, please. how am i supposed to make any coin trading when the market won't move?

now the reasons i got in are not relevant anymore and i just got to wait for the hammer to drop. i have a bad feeling i am about to get my investment ass kicked here.

hey, i picked up +0.35% today, not a bad deal. lucky. i wonder if i'll be lucky or unlucky tomorrow?

boghie, can you explain how that risk modeling thing you do works, in prain engrish? it seems counter-intuitive to me that a 75C/25S allocation decreases overall risk as opposed to a 100C allocation when i have apparently added more risk with a partial S fund holding which carries more risk than C?

if 100 C = -6 to +20 expected return, and 100S = -12 to +28 expected return, why isn't a mix of the two funds a simple proration of the returns based on percentage of holdings in each?

in my simple math world 75C/25S should be: ((-9x3)+(-12x1)/4) to ((+23x3)+(28x1)/4), or -9.75 to 24.25 expected return. not -6 to +20.

how is that so?
