burrocrat's Account Talk

How about Richard Boner? Dick Boner for short. True story...there is a guy on my route with that name. It's a crack up when the new subs see his mail addressed with that name. Dick Boner's parents must have been high when picking names for their son, or just had a wicked sense of humor.

i was thinking something more along the lines of Phil U Upp or else P Earl Driver, but i'm not sure how well that would be received.

Not well with the female readership on Amazon, but maybe there is a porn publishing company that would be more receptive.

burros-ark update: this is a difficult market to trade, no clear direction. just when you think it should go down, it creeps up on you. and when you're sure it is melting up, it takes a tumble. so what is it? does anybody remember those old saturday night live skits 'what is pat'? i'm just not quite sure. most are standing pat, but overall the ones that are in are profiting.

signal: buy. the system has been on a sell, but this is taking waaaay too long. el vira is at 0%, even steven. arkers are net long 47%, that's fairly neutral. so how long can one sit on a rock? how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop? one, two, three, crunch. the ark will execute a buy at cob tomorrow. if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

well, the ark system got in today at sale prices. only i'm worried now the discounts have just begun, let's hope it's not the sell in may inventory liquidation sale already, i was hoping that was next week.

we just cleared may money (+5% at my 1% per month goal) and i hope we don't give it all back to the market within a few days. yes, i know 'hope' is not typically a word you want to hear an investment advisor say, so it's a good thing i am not an investment advisor.

if it tumbles over the next few days, my personal account is probably going to buy all in to the wind.

Re: burros-ark

Thanks Burro, I've been somewhat in line w/Ark moves; may jump in today/tomorrow... futures are down at the moment.

burros-ark update: a couple of studs are nailing down +7%, with a couple more close enough behind at +5% to feel the wind (not that kind of wind). and plenty of folks enjoy a solid +3% in the middle of the up and coming pack. the rest of us are just standing around getting screwed. a few bold moves into the market and one safe play the seasonal odds out bet. interesting.

I completely forgot to generate the average returns and stats last month for the rainy day arkers. So, now that I have figured out the basics of displaying tables, here goes for the first third of the year (annual returns are current * 3):

Now for a thought...

After spending 2.47 minutes in intensive study I have figured out that the average returns are returning to the mean. Yup, that is how statistics work. Basically, 2008 is only affecting the risk number - which is as it should be. The average return, however, is moving toward the long term average - which is also how it should be. Thus, those that held equities are doing fine. Those wearing burkas for the last eight years lost some good money - but only if they were young and fit enough to wear a brazillian or thong on the beach. Many of us are past that point - and wearing that thong doesn't get us the looks we once got. Instead, the other folks on the beach are just wondering what the h3ll we are doing. But, every once in a while it is nice to be a bit controversial - eh...

sometimes when i'm randomly browsing the internets and come across stories like 'celebrity implants' or '25 must see photos', i examine the before and after pictures and just have to shake my head. why? ruined a perfectly good pair.

Please provide a link so we can all decide. Please:eek:

Hey B, did you have anything to do with this?

being pushed off a bridge is likely the nicest thing that could happen to me today. same as it ever was. some days is potatos and some days is gravy.
