Birchtree's Account Talk

European shares rose to 14-month highs on Wednesday, with banks and miners leading the advance, amid signs that the economic backdrop continues to improve. I'm sitting on $196K buying power but don't plan to buy any stock until the first week of January.

Birch,
There can only be one 'True Father' figure :) so I had to BAIL.

I've got to hand it to ya Birch you're about as solid as anyone I've even met and it seems like every other week you kept asking me if you should BAIL ;) and I would tell you:, 'No Birch, you need to hang on no matter what'. Then I would wake up and go back to sleep.

Well tell the little munchkin she's 'My little Honeybee :p' and I'm really proud of the way she turned out and I hope she has one of the very best marriages ever -- if not the best. Also would be good to let her know you've been saving up for the 'kids' and let her know you'll be around for the big events and all.

Tell your wife to 'chill' -- but don't put it that way. Ummm let her know that all the arrangements are solidly in place and the brightest part of your lives together is just getting started. Then just hold her and give her some quality time...

...as soon as you can tell things are good ... then come back here and keep interacting with us.

Have a great Christmas Birch !!

More figgy pudding for tom1tom1 and Lostdawg for moving to the curb - this gives me a chance to move up the rankings. Tsptalk should be getting nervous and ready to rest. Why is everyone heading for the G fund - the Santa Rally doesn't start until 12/28/09. Not me, we could do 400 Dow points in the next 4 and 1/2 trading days. The bears could be on the run all next week covering some shorts.

I'll also gladly admit Buy & Hold works perfectly fine in a Bull Market. Congrats on the strong Auto-Tracker showing this year. ;)

The NYSE is only 16 points away from a yearly high - now at 7221.20 and needs to go above 7237.10. We could close above Dow 10,501 for another yearly high. Be in to win.

You need a nice pair of sticky pants for Christmas so you can hold your positions a little longer. Sticky pants are the answer - Nnuut keeps taking his off. I knew when I was on the bottom because I was standing on it.

The R2K is now at a yearly high at 630.54 - the previous high was 623.93. Will somebody open the door and let'em in.

"At cyclical market bottoms. p/e ratios based on trailing earnings tend to be inflated, leading one to believe that the market is way too high. Yet such bottoms often represent some of the most opportune times to enter into the stock market, or to increase one's equity position. Compounding the first half projection with the second half forecast would suggest an S&P 500 value at the end of 2010 at approximate 1320, or roughly an advance of approximately 20% from current levels."

Many new yearly highs today all over the place. I'm primarily interested in the NYSE composite at 7245.17. We should be able to rally into the 1300 hours closing today.

Did not think you would be lerking around today BT.

Thanks for all your help this past year. You made it easy to keep my blinders on and think big picture.

Happy Hollidays

My tracker gain is nice but when you DCA shares at lower prices the percentages in PIP terms really rachet up. Dollar cost averaging is the redeemer of all portfolios and all it takes is time and a little courage to throw good money down the deep dark well. Now I'm looking forward to my new adventure as a swing trader. Some are saying that the VIX no longer works as a signal - just when you think that may be the case around comes the blind side to prove you wrong and cause some pain. A little pain has always been a blessing when you can dollar cost average for the long haul.

Perfect...

Thanks for the early Christmas gift last September and again in April 2009. Even though I had some debt - and all financial bubbas recommend getting rid of debt before investing - I doubled my contributions in September 2008 and made another large increase in April 2009. I bought a whole lotta equity shares during the crash.

And, your bullishness has helped keep me in the market.

Merry Christmas:)

Boghie,

Now if I can just get by you on the tracker in the next 4 trading days - that would mean extra money for the till. Holiday cheer.

Not me, Birch,
Alas, not me.

There will be other prey for the Ent to hunt. I am, and will be, faster than some. I still think this market has legs.

I don't have to be the fastest.

My regret is that there are not any lounging amongst the Lilly Pads in front of me.:p It is so nice to see that so many have recovered from last year. This has been a great year for those on this site.
