False. It was a trick question. :D

It's a misconception that a gentleman, or an actual guy who is nice, should be respectful to a woman he is interested in. It perpetuates the idea that respect is merely a tool to be exchanged for sex. A true gentleman should be polite and respectful to everyone, regardless of gender. He shouldn't be using it as a means of attraction.
 
Disrespect is sign of a relationship that is going to constantly struggle until it ends up on the rocks, sooner or later. some guys (gals) just don't want to believe it is that important a factor in a healthy relationship. Disagreement can be healthy, the way that disagreement is expressed can be very unhealthy indeed. jp is correcto, the concept applies across all manner of relationships.

Not where I was going with my question, but very true.

My questions are rather general and geared more towards how to tell the difference between a regular man and a gentleman. As in, what makes a gentleman stand out from the rest of the men?

True.

For some reason, a lot of people hate it when guys open doors for them. When I walk through a door, I either let the person behind me go first or I hold the door open for them once I go through. I think it's incredibly rude if I'm right behind someone and he or she lets the door shut in my face. So in my humble opinion, I think a gentleman should keep the door open for someone behind him, regardless of gender or age. It's just common courtesy.

I would say true, especially if you are an "old school gentleman". In addition, after a gentleman has opened the car door for his lady, a true lady will reach across the seat and unlock the gentleman's door for him...Yes ladies it swings both ways!!!

What are you driving, a jalopy? Your door lock should unlock automatically when you open/unlock her door. :laugh:

where the heck do you work that would suspend a person with LWOP for holding open a door? :suspicious: that's ridiculous. i don't believe it.

I somehow lost a reply to this (logged out when I tried to post?) so it may pop up or not.

You can hold the door for building entry but then you are responsible for making sure the person "badges in" which can lead to dirty looks, snide remarks or confrontations. You NEVER hold the door for some areas. How do "they" know about violations? A diligent security staff monitoring cameras.

LWOP is usually for a second offense. The first time you just get to talk to a lot of higher ups. The policy is not unreasonable.

OMG! You are talking about secured areas. Of course you're not supposed to let anyone in. Everyone is supposed to sign in with their own badge. :worried:
