BOJ Yamaguchi: Ready To Take Proper Policy Steps If Needed
KAGOSHIMA (Dow Jones)--Bank of Japan Deputy Gov. Hirohide Yamaguchi indicated Wednesday that the central bank is ready to loosen its already accommodative monetary policy even further if the economic and financial situation deteriorates.
"If judged necessary, due, for example, to economic and price developments as well as to changes in financial conditions, the bank is always prepared to implement appropriate measures at an appropriate time," Yamaguchi told business leaders in Kagoshima, southern Japan.
The BOJ's policy board voted unanimously last week to leave the bank's unsecured overnight call loan rate at 0.1%, where it has been since December
