Zebra's Story

Thanks everyone. Finally got to log on to their site. Since I'm only getting around 30% of my annuity, probably be better off getting finalized next year, tax wise. Off to the Philippines for six months to wait it out.
Later, Vol46

Well vol, if you kept your FEHP you have to figure your getting more than 30% cause they're deducting it from your annuity.

On a lighter note, bring me back a capiz shell lamp from PI. :cheesy:

brookmd, I just talked to a close friend who is retiring after 30 years with the FAA HQ Washington D.C.; he was briefed to expect up to one year after he retires before OPM settles his retirment. He did work for two different federal agencies, but he didn't think that was for the reason they briefed. He was under the impression that their is a flood of retirements this year and it is just plain backlog at OPM!

I guess we should not feel bad it is taking us up this point 8 months and no OPM finalization! NOT!!!!

Well glad we had advance warning and planned for it.

During the processing time period they don't withhold dental or eye glasses insurance payments but the provider will send you a bill when it's due.

For me this is not true. I have not received any bills from my providers; however, shortly after I retired and move to Alabama, I did receive Federal BCBS of Alabama new insurance cards.

Z, do you have the vision and dental riders? If you do, have you notified them of your change of address? I get a bill every month
for the 2 of them after I originally got letters stating the coverage would continue but they would wait to collect after OPM got
things straight. Maybe the rider companies realized how long it was taking OPM and didn't want to wait. lol Anyway, if you have
those you might want to check in with them.

BTW, what are you doing on the net at 7AM? You should've already been out on the lake.

No Brookmd, I don't have them.

OBTW, I have fished the last two days on the Tenn river! I was up at 0430

After eight months of waiting, I finally called OPM. Got through in about 15 seconds. Found out the case workers name and number. Just waiting for her to call me back. 48 hour wait limit.

If I brought any shells back from the Philippines, they would probably be in pieces. If I see any, will
bring back a pic.

Well I did get through today to OPM, my case was still in the hold stack, but lady told me she would put mine in the expedite stack. She took my phone numbers in case they needed to contact me. I retired in Dec 2010; have I told you OPM sucks?

Can you give us the phone # at OPM that you called?

Well good morning everyone. I checked my account this morning online and found I had 2 deposits from the Feds. One my usual partial payment I've been getting since Feb 1, and a second larger amount that I assume to be the back pay they owed me. Also this morning my beautiful mail lady delivered an envelope from OPM with all my account info showing deductions and what my full annuity will be, I guess commencing on 1 Oct. And nope, I just let things take their course and didn't call to complain. Since I retired the same day as Z and vol46, Dec 31, it will be 9 months to get a full annuity check. Now I did have 1.5 years of civil service time back in the '60's prior to my 20 years in the Air Force. So that resulted in them offering me the opportunity to buy back that time to add to my FERS time with the USPS. That may have resulted in a little of the delay. Who knows. But anyway, all is done, complete, finis. Z, vol46, hopefully you guys will get the same good news today.
