Mesothelioma and asbestosis

"A new radiographic tool is shown to be promising for the detection of diseases related to asbestos. As reported by the Karmanos Cancer Institute on PR Newswire, the announcement of a new approach using Vitrea? imaging software in conjunction with a high resolution CT scan."

You may have heard of Richard "Dickie" Scruggs, who made billions off the cigarette, asbestosis, and other litigation. A movie was even made about the cigarette case and Scruggs’ brother-in-law is Trent Lott. If you are unfortunate enough to be involved in an asbestosis case, the lawyers will take about two thirds of the money for basically filing the paperwork in what is generally and open and shut case.

There is a personal interest in asbestosis in my family because my father-in-law who worked in a shipyard died from mesothelioma which is cancer of the lining of the lungs. This is a terrible way to die since your lungs fill with fluid and you smother to death. It takes about 20 years for this cancer to develop as the asbestosis fibers migrate to the lining of the lungs where it causes cancer.

You may want to be careful of investing in some of the companies involved in asbestosis cases: Union Asbestos & Rubber Company, UNARCO Industries Inc., Pneumo Abex, LLC, Honeywell International, Inc., Johns-Manville, Raybestos-Manhattan, Owens-Illinois, Owens Corning, W.R. Grace, and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and many others will be sued in the future.

Research the name of any company before investing with asbestos, asbestosis, and mesothelioma before investing.

Replace "grace" with the name of your company of interest.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes.

I will attempt to make the most of my remaining years as I am more than halfway to the finish line. I am not sure what retirement age might be for me at the VA as we have some employees expiring on the premises.

Is it better to die in the traces or take a few years off at the end to relax?

I guess this explains where some of the mesothelioma, asbestosis, and cigarette money went.

Re: Mesothelioma and asbestosis

A fellow Postmaster just died this past weekend from asbestos related cancer in her intestinal tract. She was diagnosed only within the last eight months.

Re: Mesothelioma and asbestosis

Sorry to here about the asbestos related cancer. Was this in any way related to work, food, or brought home to the family from asbestos related employment?

Happy belated birthday. I'd say if you really like your job and it is low pressure and you are in good health, continue working until at least 60 years of age. Upon retirement have some goals in mine you would like to accomplish, maybe driving cross country and seeing the sites or family. Maybe enter a bike race or run a marathon. Maybe devote more time to the grandchildren, and have some hobbies. I waited until I was almost 68 years old, mainly because I could not afford to retire earlier. I am totally happy being retired and don't miss work at all.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes.

Re: Mesothelioma and asbestosis

Asbestos Deaths: 10,000 per year and increasing

Asbestos kills an estimated 10,000 people in the United States each year, and the number of deaths is increasing. More people die from asbestos diseases annually than from skin cancer, or from fires, drowning, and Hodgkins disease combined. Asbestos mortality is not expected to peak until around 2020, and will continue for decades as exposures from products in use today as well as deteriorating older products in homes and businesses, kills thousands of unsuspecting people.
