Does anyone here remember the colorful, enormous print cover on a Discover magazine sometime between 1982-84?
I was embarrassed (still in a somewhat protected life, believe it or not)
by it... It obviously left its impression me! :o
I just don't recall if it said Aids or HIV, but the words basically were:
ANAL SEX only way to catch/spread the dz. I can still see the ANAL SEX in my mind's eye - kinda blurred the exact working of the rest of it!:blink:
Anyway, the point is - if, as it appears, even the respected scientific journals can be misleading, then why put much stock in Discover, History channel, TLC - ???
I love it when a relative quotes the Hx channel to me as a documentary on what the Bible says - he can't be bothered to read for himself what it actually does say!!
 
The thing about theories in science is that they are often wrong. Scientists are always adjusting their view when additional info becomes available. Thats what the "scientific method does." Its our "best guess".

This study was done by a major university and I'm sure they followed proper guidelines, but that doesn't make it a fact. There are always "limitations" etc published with the study. I just finished a research study and there are all kinds of bias and sample type issues that can be involved.

That said, it is interesting and I'm sure there will be further studies.

Exactly. Let's not forget ulterior motives playing a role to ensure a certain outcome. That sort of goes along with your bias issue, except it can be overt.

Yes, that is so. It must get disheartening for the researchers to find that an observation is blasted in the media as: `Researchers have found...' when the experiments, studies aren't even 1/3rd way in yet. Kinda reminds me of when a study on women was showing odd numbers connected with hormone therapy....by the time the media got thru there was no way the study could be completed in regards to that portion of it.

But that is just the thing... 20 odd years ago the scientists felt in their honest efforts `that was the way it was,' but we see now that it isn't.
Then we come to today & find we are faced today with documented lies, Al Gore using fake pictures in his documentary film, scientific discoveries based on known untruths - how much more so will it be seen in 20 odd years that `this isn't the way it is?'

A recent letter in the paper was getting after the GW issue -saying: "99% of the scientists are in total agreement with GW." So where is she getting her information? Obviously from the very folks who have refused any debate ....

I truly believe the whole thing is a farce, a scam, of such evil depth that there will be no holds barred in getting this through. The pity is, the people on the street that aren't reading the papers, that are jammed up noses to the sitcoms, reality, whatever TV shows, that they have no idea of what is really happening `out there.' The only thing they know about the disbelief in GW, or even of the Conservative side, the conservative-type talk shows, the only thing they know about them is what they hear sneered through/by the lips of the three (3) mainstream TV networks.
Why are three (3) Goliaths after one (1) TV network?
As far as that goes, why are countries with a combined 1/2 the land mass of this planet trying to eliminate a country the size of Delaware? I am fully aware my numbers in the last sentence are wrong - but it gives the mind picture of what is...

Included poor country reps, too. Doesn't say if any were anti's , but that would be doubtful. The smaller countries want financial help, whatever need they do end up using it for.

The author did comment she wasn't sure what Security Concerns had cropped up later in the morning, unless it was when the crowd started chanting `let us in.' !!!

I feel like global warming is being used as a scare tactic. People need something to rally behind. The fact that we are sending billions of dollars overseas that will never return for oil isn't enough. We need new fuels for our sovereignty. For the future.


Thats what should be the rallying cry. But the majority of folks don't seem to care about that. :(

Global warming is the "in" thing right now.

Never let a good crisis go to waste. Even a manufactured one.

Back in the mid-seventies the Gov rallied behind global cooling. Remember Y2K? There's more, but the point, and as you said, they are used to galvanize political will.
 
Ah hell, give it another year, then this 12/21/2012 thing will kick in and nobody will even remember the Global Warming Scam.:D
