tsptalk's Market Talk

CNBC was saying today is the 9th down day in a row. I suppose it depends on which index you are referring to though.

Yeah I don't know what the DOW did that day as I track only the TSP funds, but C Fund was slightly up that day which means the S&P should have been. No sure.

weird series of days. 2 days in a row where I was tempted to buy TZA and didn't (good thing!)

expected a bit of a pullback today and it didn't happen. a buncha no activity in the market. let's see if power hour has any direction :)

Thursday is our sentiment survey day and the market always seems to be down on that day for some reason. :)

Isn't TZA up a little today?

6 cents, considering the fees associated with that ETF, anything less than 4% really is a wasted trade. at least imo with that one. Who knows, but I never hold that one longer than a few days, so if i bought when I was originally thinking to, I would have taken a hit.

very low volume day, nobody seems to want to make a move

hit the top of its current trading channel, so most likely tomorrow will be a down day. then again that's what I thought yesterday and the day before lol.

Fake out or breakdown? I speculated earlier this week that stocks would break in the opposite direction of the dollar break, and today that is playing out, but is this a fake out? There's a double top on the Naz 100 weekly chart that concerns me in the short-term.

shorted facebook yesterday because they forced that stupid timeline crap on me. it's paying off so far, i might even delete my account there lol.

Well, my son is off to college and I just dropped some visiting family off at the airport. I was looking for a little pullback but one of the main reasons I had been in cash in my personal trading accounts the last few days is because I was busy and couldn't pay much attention. Now that they are all gone, I'm nibbling on some TNA. A 2 day pullback in a bull market is good reason for that. If the rising wedge I talked about breaks to the downside, that will be my stop. I won't have much patience.

I've done well over the last few months, but to be honest I probably bought and sold a few times since that post. :) I guess I should be more consistent in my posting of trades.

Here's a look at the roller-coaster of the balance of my Scottrade account for the last 6-months. Fortunately, it is currently near the top right on the chart. :)

I've been a little cautious the last couple of weeks with the market near highs since I know how easy it is to head down the roller-coaster again if not careful.

Well done, Tom. Keep up the good work.

Oh, and congratulations on getting your son off to college. Quite an accomplishment.

Here's one of my smaller accounts trading only 2X mutual funds UAPIX and UCPIX. Not bragging, just showing that it doesn't take much to make a little cash outside of TSP. ;)
