TSP Poker Club

the interface is not entirely customizable, there are limited buyin+fee amounts available to select. the next one below 1000+50 is 500+30. the 1000 threshold was chosen as it is the smallest play money buyin available out in the open site.

as for the 'begging' for 50 chips for a buyin any given night, i don't think anyone sees this as a negative or a charity thing. these are all just play money chips and the point was to pay with friends, not to take things so seriously.

the buyin amounts will remain as they are for this week, if nothing else just to see if i managed to create the tourney successfully and if the results will count. if they don't well you won't have burro around to kick on anymore because then i will pour gasoline all over the poker club and burn the mofo to the ground. and then i will wait for someone else to make a new club and go clean house there. i am not a very patient man.

i did not consider that two tourneys per week would be a negative draw for some folks, but it seems that if whatever your messed up priorities in life keep you from playing internet poker twice a week because you need to play in all games and win all games to be happy, then you might want to adjust your priorities.

i would consider cancelling the monday one for season points in that case so that there was just one pure season game per week, but it was done that way to give those who for religious or work schedule reasons are unable to play on sunday an opportunity to compete for keeps (again, get your priorities straight).

I just did. Sounds like there is a lot of planning going on so I figured i'd pitch in my two cents. Didn't say anything before because it was just implemented.

You should've spoke on it. This is your club as much as it is anyone else's--especially on behalf on someone less vocal or possibly intimidated (not referring to this case). I do it all the time.

America calls it 'trouble-making.' We are trained since an early age to just go along to get along...which is partly why things are such a mess in this country.

:soapbox:

they must've skipped that part of my training. early on they put me in the alternative classes because they didn't know what to do with me and i kept embarrassing them with silly things likes logic and facts. it seems the good lord gave me a nose for bullsheet and common sense, which probably explains both why i can spot it and am so good at it.

i have been informed from multiple sources that my carnivorous kill em all and eat em bedside manner is less than desirable, so this week i am going to focus on being a vegantanerian this week in an effort to soften my blows.

500+30 sounds perfect. It's not about chips, it's about rank/standing.

Did you read alevin's post?

That's your opinion. [refers to previous quote paragraph]

I've only seen one other person use the old take my ball and go home threat on TSPtalk.

Wow.

I've just updated my messed up priorities in life so I won't be playing anymore.
Enjoy the game boys.

Wow.

there was open opportunity for anyone to start a poker club for months, nobody did, so i made this one. and i marketed this one. and people play it and enjoy it, for the most part. so yes, i consider this somewhat of 'my ball'. if the ball is unacceptable, the free market will provide an alternative solutions, it is the way of the world. dinosaours die and get compressed through the ages into fossil fuels which later get pulled out of the ground and turned into gasoline which is, yep you guessed it, good for burning things down. it's like a hakunamatat circle of life thing, it happens, folks get over it.

was that other guy who took his ball and went home named adoph?

LOL...old man called the kid's bluff. Lesson learned, I hope.

I have no idea about Der Fuhrer and anything about him, although I find most Der Fuhrer videos funnier than all get out ( that's a southern term, btw, reflection of part of my growing up era). What I do know is that I understood why b added the Monday night game, and that was perfectly acceptable to me since I had no expectation of winning a tourney against any of the experienced players anyways. what I did not foresee when the idea was first proposed, was the need to go out into the big bad world outside the club to try and earn enough chips and spend extra time doing so, so I could buy in on my own on a regular basis.

I understand a bit better now why the b chose the 1000+50, limited choices for setup. I appreciate him going to the effort. If I'd realized there was a 500+30 option ahead of time, I perhaps would have spoken up as a special request. water under the bridge at this point. Not wanting to upset the apple cart worse than it already is, apples rolling all over the floor right now. bruises, they hurt.

That said, I can accept a little help from time to time when I want to play bad enough on a given night and I'm in the right frame of mind to accept a little help that night. I'm not in the right frame of mind tonight. It doesn't feel good right now and I have to go outside and do some more yard cleanup in the meantime while the weather is conducive. doesn't happen a lot on spring weekends. priorities priorities. we're all different and that's not a bad thing. doesn't mean I won't make the time to try and earn my own chips prior to tourney on another night upcoming. just have to be in the right frame of mind to make it a priority to try.

whoa, did this place just get way beyond chippy?!?
:AR15firing::1244: :wall:

dysfunctional families can be found in all walks of life, but nowhere more frequently than among poker players. the neat thing about trains is it is usually memorable and impressive when the wheels come off. enjoy the ride.

Burro, as for Sunday/Monday tournaments... I don't think it makes sense to be back to back days. I was the one pushing for monday nights... but I really meant in-lieu of Sunday nights; not both. One option is to alternate Sundays and Mondays (Make them biweekly, with 1 week offset).

IMO its us trying to get around a stupid flaw in pokerstars, in that we can't get the buy-in to right at 1k. It would make things so much easier. Those 50 chips certainly cause my problems than they help, for us infrequent players.
Having more chips really just enables you to buy into higher stakes tournaments. There really isn't any pride in having more chips outside of 'enabling higher levels' if you will. Pokerstars keeps those 50 chips anyway, as their 'fee' to play. They don't go to the winners.

The issue here is not one of dysfunctional families but rather an issue of respect. Respect for other people's life choices and priorities. But it is a dysfunctional system that asks for input and then belittles people for their input.

well this is a rather inconvenient time to announce this, but we have a new member: berrycuda. now let's put on our happiest poker faces and pretend we like each other, we have company damnit!

if you get an email a tourney has been cancelled, it is the monday night one for season points. one per week on sunday's, got it.

tonight's game may be light and/or nonexistent though as i scared away the ladies. i have a way of doing that.

in an effort to be more kindler and gentler i am going to implement my new vegertarian stragididy early right now and apologize.

i'm sorry i made a scene, string bean.

hate to see you go, tomato.

Could be the drama that caused cuda to join. :D
