TSP Poker Club

very nice and efficient representation of the club statistics kuz, thanks.

does it automatically re-order the players on the list according to rank when position changes? i would be interested your table lookup function you are using for the knockouts. actually, would you consider sharing the entire spreadsheet? there is a lot to learn in there.

Last one was no good. Here is the fixed one:

Note, I got rid of the counting yourself as a KO when you win. I don't think that makes sense, regardless of what pokerstars thinks!

checking the poker site this morning i see that last night's game is not recorded for season standings either, again. i don't know what to do about that really, as i posted the settings of the tourney as i created it. and there was the option to pre-register for next sunday's game upon exit so that setting took but the count for season standings one did not. thank you kuz for keeping track of the stats, i think everyone can agree that is an accurate representation of where the performances sit.

so i am done now making any new games or actively running a poker club. there is a regularly scheduled recurring game on sunday nights at 8:00 pm et that is an official count for points game. i will not be making any more and no others count for the score. this is the min and max of this poker club, one game on sunday, play or don't.

i would encourage anybody else to make their own version of a club on the current site or any other and invite members to that if they wish to play different times or different days or different games. this club is now in an 'inactive management state'. one game per week, one shot.

thanks for playing.

Thank you for the time and effort you put into it. It was both impressive and memorable. I hope you enjoyed the ride.

Haha ya. I was entering people being knocked out as we were playing, and somehow through copy-pasting people's names (so I didn't transcribe them wrong), some cells of previous games were counted as extra players, since somehow they weren't blank.. So the points were wrong since the number of people participating was wrong.
I like this one much better than the other one. :cheesy:

It semi-automatically re-orders the players. I have to select the first 2 columns, and do a SORT, smallest to largest (easy to do, not worth automating right now). Then EVERYTHING else adjusts itself accordingly.

Handling the KOs actually took some thought. At first I thought I'd have to just enter them manually, as it wouldn't be easy to expand the functions with future games (beyond a click-and-fill). But then I thought of a way to keep it clean, that IMO was pretty slick :1244:

Thanks for all the work K. That is really nice of you!!

BTW: I really enjoy the games with you folks!

burro, thanks for your efforts, really. As much crap as I give you, its all in good fun. I hope you change your mind in not wanting to actively manage the club. I know its not your fault the stats someone got messed up.

There's something to be said for how good of turnouts we have had for most of these games, and I think we all owe that to your efforts.

...don't think I'll be taking it easy on you tho. Granted looking at the KO matrix.. I'm not the one that you need to worry about

I agree with K Burro! Thanks for all your efforts to set the club up and get it running. You done good!!!

Looks like we're moving into the 3d phase of group development. that's a good thing. hope we can keep it there or in the following phase for a much longer while. go down to read descriptions of the different phases. I think it will help people understand what we're going through is common experience new groups go through. I took a weeklong work-oriented class on this subject many years ago.

that's fuckin brilliant! great read between the lines. it's about time everybody got used this poker therapy and realized we're all just inmates in the same asylum.

I'd say we're stuck in the 2nd phase. The phase where things (are suppose to) become crystal clear and concerns are actually addressed. Or, we're at the last stage.

How do you guys feel about using a different point system than what pokerstars gave us? Since we are keeping score manually, there is no real reason to use pokerstars'.

I'm thinking I'd prefer more people get SOME kind of points. Currently, with only 1st and 2nd (and occasionally 3rd) getting points, unless you've made it to the top 2, you are basically unranked. So if we changed to a point system that gave more people points, people who have a better idea how they are progressing/regressing other than winning it all.

For example, Attitude got 3rd one tournament, but didn't get any points, therefore is technically still unranked. or ranked the same as someone who hasn't even played a game yet

I've got some ideas, but wanted to see what everyone else thought first.

aahhh, so free. i pushed the sticks full forward and locked everybody out of the wheelhouse, this rudderless ships sails every sunday night until it runs out of fuel, hits the rocks, or finds valhalla. we'll know who wins by who stands at the end.

now i can prepare for the battles my own way, because there is a little maori warrior in all of us. happy haka.

Uhhh, bravo for wanting to bring this to the body first. :)

I agree that the ranking is too tight. However, something inside me says 'don't tinker under the hood.'

Suppose this ghost ship makes it to next year, or we start a new room at PS and the statistics work properly in that room, our bastardized stats will be meaningless for comparison purposes, going forward.

I notice you're usually a this way or that way type of binary thinking guy (re:a Zika thread convo :) ). HOWEVER, it's a spreadsheet. It's little extra work to keep an original recipe sheet/range; and a separate sheet(s) where you've tinkered to your hearts delight. :) As with the Zika convo, the choices aren't/weren't mutually exclusive. :)
