Burro: I think I was 5th place on 2/21... if my memory (which isn't all that good) serves me correctly. BTW...got an email saying tonights game was cancelled from Poker Stars. Is that correct? Thanks,

FS

the game was cancelled as structured because there were obviously mistakes in how it was counted.

there are two new recurring tourneys scheduled for sunday and monday nights at the regular time, in about 8 hours from now for tonight's game.

I knocked burro out at two games but not sure if it was 7th and 21st or 14th and 21st.
It wasn't the 14th, as que knocked everyone out of that one. So safe to assume it was the 7th?

If it helps jog anyone's memory, the 7th was the super bowl night.

I recommend we lower the buy-in to less than the current 1000+50 chips to allow those with no chips to use the free 1000 chips that poker stars gives everyone three times per hour, to enter games so they don't have to worry about getting the 'extra' chips.

I recommend not changing it, so it doesn't mess up my spreadsheet :D:D

Well, please don't mess up the perfect spreadsheet for my sake. I wasn't planning on playing the last game anyways, as I said when I first got near the table last time. I don't want my life to revolve around trying to gain the extra $50 buyin needed every week by playing outside the club, so I'll play club tourneys intermittently, when I have time to spend time at outside tables. Yesterday I spent doing market research visiting with local successful craftsman several hours, and then running the math and anticipated cashflow for some serious loans/cash purchases for non-stock, non-bond items I'm contemplating investing in over the next 3 years. My intended retirement business(es), real estate, plus vehicle to backstop the 21yo pickup.

right now contemplating a very-good-deal REO-real estate purchase to provide family rental housing support makes the most immediate economic sense (my value system and current cash status), but would require puttin off vehicle replacement for another couple years, pay off loans for the vehicle and roth accounts within 3 years, picking up some capital equipment and hands-on training to prep for post-retirement business income intermittently between now and retirement, (relatively low investments there, but would still require some intermittent bigger chunks from cash flow). and rebuild enough of a cash cushion to carry me through the transition period after I retire until all .gov retirement funds start flowing sufficiently.

So you see, I don't have a lot of spare time to spend chasing that elusive extra $50 virtual cash for buyin every week. :o  focused on real-life financial matters.

No worries alevin, I was mostly just playing about the spreadsheet. It was a pretty easy tweak to account for different buy-in's. Just changed the lookup table to percentages instead of dollar amounts

If burro doesn't change it, there are a couple of people that can send you the 50 chips; its been done several times already. Just ask cougar, userque, or myself to send you what you need... chances are Burro has gone broke

I personally don't think the prize money for the tourney is all that meaningful, considering ranking goes by points. So if its a matter of getting people to play or not, I'm all for lowering it.

It's not the serious, folks.

That's what I anticipated when the club was first proposed. Once a week play with play money. When it got set up to where I would have to play more than once a week, just to try to get in each weekly club game, it took some of the fun out of it for me. Even for play purposes, it doesn't feel all that good accepting chips, certainly not on a routine basis. :( Once I get in the game, it's ok and I'm appreciative, til I'm staring the registration button in the face again for the next weekly game without enough chips to get in the game without help again.

which is why I'll only be inclined to play once in awhile if it requires help just to get in. It's not that big a deal, other than small chronic injuries to my pride and/or the time committment to try and avoid accepting chronic help. Not how I thought it would be when the idea first proposed. :15:

I don't mind spotting you the chips. But I understand what you are saying. It would take the fun out of playing for me not knowing where my next chips where coming from or if I would even get them in time for the game.

I was ok playing in the tourney on Sundays because it was easy to manage once a week...easy to plan ahead and such. When Monday was added to the schedule, I kind of lost interest. Fifty-two days a year was good enough but 102 days was a bit too much. I wouldn't mind seeing a scheduled just for fun game on another night to play as time permits but I don't like to be tied down for two nights every week in order to remain competitive in the rankings. Just my two cents.

what is this pride thing you speak of?

This is why I made the recommendation. The first one was ignored. The second one...well...you saw what happened.

Who wants to join a club, to get better at poker, where you have to beg/bother others for chips, because you aren't better at poker enough yet (or have the time) to stack millions of chips in between tournaments--which is why you joined the club in the first place.

It's illogical I tell ya! :D

Apparently, I was in the minority as my motion wasn't even seconded. :)

You should've spoke on it. This is your club as much as it is anyone else's--especially on behalf on someone less vocal or possibly intimidated (not referring to this case). I do it all the time.

America calls it 'trouble-making.' We are trained since an early age to just go along to get along...which is partly why things are such a mess in this country.
