Are you referring to neanderthals. Originally they thought this was a completely different species but now have found they are distant cousins and some of us still carry this ancient DNA.

Yes, when I thought of this question I had just read an article in a science magazine that said everyone who has origins outside of Africa have been proven to carry Neanderthal DNA.

What Hessian General was allegedly kick out of his own army for being gay. He then joined up with General Washington's Continental Army teaching the troops the essentials of military drill and discipline. Many scholars argue that he deserves much of the credit for the revolutionary war victory.

Tractor, your answer is correct as asked. I didn't ask my question properly as there was more than one President who had done this. I meant to ask for the first President who designated the fourth Thursday in November as Thanksgiving. See quote below from an article on John Hanson -The First President.

John Hanson, American Patriot and First President of the United States
(1715-1783)
As the first President, Hanson had quite the shoes to fill. No one had ever been President and the role was poorly defined. His actions in office would set precedent for all future Presidents. He took office just as the Revolutionary War ended. Almost immediately, the troops demanded to be paid. As would be expected after any long war, there were no funds to meet the salaries. As a result, the soldiers threatened to overthrow the new government and put Washington on the throne as a monarch. All the members of Congress ran for their lives, leaving Hanson running the government. He somehow managed to calm the troops and hold the country together. If he had failed, the government would have fallen almost immediately and everyone would have been bowing to King Washington.

Hanson, as President, ordered all foreign troops off American soil, as well as the removal of all foreign flags. This was quite a feat, considering the fact that so many European countries had a stake in the United States since the days following Columbus. Hanson established the Great Seal of the United States, which all Presidents have since been required to use on all official documents. President Hanson also established the first Treasury Department, the first Secretary of War, and the first Foreign Affairs Department. Lastly, he declared that the fourth Thursday of every November was to be Thanksgiving Day, which is still true today.

I was looking for a bit more specific answer but I suppose I should have asked a more specific question. Over to you Gumby.
 
Let's do a little thinking problem.

You have two fine Missouri watermelons that weigh 25 lbs each. The melons currently contain 99% water. You tell your teenage daughter to unload them from the back from the back of your Chevy while you enjoy a fine Missouri Budweiser. Your daughter gets distracted by her IPhone and forgets to unload them. You also forget about the melons after a few Buds. The melons lay in the back of the Chevy while you enjoy the nice 95 deg weather for a few days. :sick:

What will be the total weight of both melons when the water content is 98%? :)

zero? once the water content is less than 99% they aren't melons any more? i assume your talking about the water not the daughter melons? who knows what they weight. now that's heavy stuff.
 
wait, wait, wait, i take that back. got distracted by the melons, happens sometimes. well, actually lots of times.

the total weight of the watermelons will always be 100%.
