This and That

I have a question…

Here is Nagasaki 1945, after the atomic bomb;

And Here is

Nagasaki 2011, following the 9.0 earthquake and tsunami;

What the hell is that arch thing made of??

It is not an 'arch thingy', and your question answers itself.

It is actually a giant antenna, or the tip of one anyway. And the posts are not really posts, but massive electrodes that plug directly into the pits of hades. Which explains why destruction and chaos are inevitably drawn to it. Sort of like a lightning rod.

Don't ever build your house out of this stuff, or even park your car next to one.

:laugh: Too Much! Maybe we should ask TSPIntel if his friends and family in outer space had anything to do with it. Maybe they're the same ones who built the pyramids.

Good luck finding him. Last I heard he was looking for the G spot. :laugh:

What a heartbreaking story...And kudos to your son. You must be very proud of him.
Yes, Kevin, the writing & photography are well done, from this reader's point of view! The storyline is something I'd not been aware of. Thank Clay for doing this, and thank you for sharing with us.

Story my journalist son did recently. :)

A great story, and a fine read.

It had to take hard work, and an open mind just to get close. But to spot and be able to relate these nuggets of wisdom while staying grounded and humble, outstanding vision.

“I live off of kindness and how can’t you be kind if you live off it, you know?” he said. “How can you not?”

They were happy living in the present. By and large the whole lot of them lived off the kindness of strangers and support from each other.

Your kid done good dad.

They only carry a few essential things, and some sentimental stuff. The rest they come across as needed, ... talk about faith.

Heartbreaking? Or inspiring? They keep their pride, against all obstacles, no need for pity.

The places always change, but the people are the same. On the independence day holiday no less, that is freedom.

Heatbreaking the circumstances that brought them to where they are today. (i.e. child abuse). They have learned to accept and adapt to circumstances. I would not wish that life for my child. Would you?

No, but if so I would wish that he respond as well.

A Few Days in the Yard

The line that struck me most deeply...“I live off of kindness and how can’t you be kind if you live off it, you know?” he said. “How can you not?”

Kevin, your son is a wonderful journalist and has a long fine career ahead of him. thank you for sharing your pride in him. It's warranted. had no idea kids were living this way and I live in a small railtown where its easy to spot strangers from other ways of life. Heartbreaking what put him and others on the road so very young. One of the commenters on his story told a family story of a depression-era rail-rider and how well that grandparent turned out. We live in hard times again but there is still hope when people are kind.

too cool,

so if you lose your tool in space...
you can just print out another one?

gawd i hope it takes a current 3D scan to print that file, 'cause if they could do it with a old 2D representation there's gonna be a lot more happy gals out there, besides that could be embarassing.
