BC, I really like your current signature!

And folks, here are some stats I picked up on an S Fund analog during my reading today:

"...Since 1979 the Russell 2000 (R2K) has been up 74% of the time in December with an average gain of 2.9%. During the 2nd year of the Presidential Cycle the R2K has been up 57% of the time with an average gain of 0.6%. The best ever December for the R2K, 2008 (+19.8%), the worst 2002 (-6.2%)..."

I really need to get more of my TSP into the S Fund!

Maggie

I have 25% of my TSP in S Fund. Now that I'm gifted  with December's IFTs I'm moving more into S. Just haven't decided how much more.

Study. Study. Study.... :D

Maggie

At COB today I will be 50% G, 10% C, 30% S and 10% I.

I'm keeping half my TSP in G Fund because of that seed corn thing. I'm upping my investment in S Fund a bit because it has been showing such consistent strength for so long. I'm keeping 10% in C Fund because if the bull market continues, and if past patterns are followed this time, at some point the strength will move from S to C. And I'm buying 10% into I Fund because it's cheap and it looks like a good set-up, but I'm only going 10% in case I'm wrong.

A public thanks to Coolhand's information for helping me to make up my mind.

Cheers,
Maggie

Woohoo!

I'm so pleased that I just have to share the news with you. My daughter just called to say that she received her diploma for her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting in the mail today! And she did it in two years. Online! In an accredited university where my son got both his Bachelor's of Computer Science and his MBA.

She graduated from WGU, the university that Time Magazine in 2008 called "the best relatively cheap university that you've never heard of."

Western Governors University was started by 19 governors with $20 million in seed money to provide an online alternative to brick and mortar colleges that count the number of hours you spend in their lecture halls. WGU tests you on what you know and lets you sign up for as many classes per semester as you want. And all that life experience you've got can help a motivated person get a degree in as little as two years.

As you can tell I am a very big fan of WGU. :D And of my children!

Maggie

Congrats to the kids,Maggie. WGU is definitely providing a needed service in this day and time. Requires further investigation from me on behalf of younger family looks like.

Re: Woohoo!

I am thrilled to say I have researched the brain and everything related to the brain for many years.

This same son was 'qualified' to work in the Twin Towers ;)

There is absolutely no single factor more important in either your daughter's or your son's IQ and 'intelligence' than 'genes'.

Having 'good genes' is everything. Consider this:

Despite her 'beauty queen' appearance -- it was her ability to rapidly process and accurately identify multipe complex and complicated factors and relay this information with 'clarity and ease' that brought their mother to such a 'respected' and very high status.

She is rare -- very smart -- but personable and has excellent social and communicative skills.

Few jobs could be more complicated than being an 'uncover agent' - and the ability to process anything and everything is an ongoing event. You are talking skills that require amazing intelligence.

Combine these two - and their children will be the best of the best !!

I'm thrilled for her (and you) -- but not surprized.

Thanks, my friend!

My son was one of the first WGU students when the program was still in beta format so our family has been fans of the university for a long time. There is no way that either of them could have done it if it wasn't for the online format. And although neither of my kids did this, you can even access all your textbooks online if you want to.

They were able to work at their studies at odd times when they had a few minutes to spare. And tuition is small enough that their student loans aren't scary. It's a great program.

And since this sounds like a commercial anyway :cheesy: I might as well give you the link. Its http://www.wgu.edu/

I hope WGU works as well for your family as it has for mine!

Zacks December 4, 2010

Market broke out in Sept, afterwards market pulled back to essentially the breakout point and then moved back up. It now appears to be ready for another move up. Technically 8 or 10% price target. If no huge negative news could be looking at two years of positive returns.

Bullish going into December because retail reports have been surprisingly good. This makes the possibility of a Santa Claus Rally look very good.

I hope today wasn't a bad day -- sometimes I get a bit concerned.

You'd mentioned having an Indian Shaman friend before and I was wondering if you'd be willing to at least tell me what tribe she belongs to.

Typically that is a very huge deal for the Native Americans and it's not at all superstitious -- or hocus pocus stuff -- but it's a very deeply sacred gift and one that bestows immense respect.

Most of my research into the Native Americans is from women - because they have a depth and a heart that only a woman has -- they are incredibly detailed - usually strongly associated with Historical Societies and I'm very grateful for all they have shared.

You may have enormous insights as a result of your longstanding friendship. I would very much want to know as much as possible - if you'd be willing to share.

Well, I'm heading out -- hope all is well.
