Steel_Magnolia's Account Talk

Re: Our summer place, pt. 1

I've noticed a pickup in spec homes being started in some markets. Not a noticeable pickup in subdivision planning though.

I own a bunch of them homebuilders and housing related stocks - if they start gaining in value I'll DCA into them some more.

Hope this snapshot of the fund analogs doesn't hurt anyone's eyes!

Everyone got enough cookies? Need another couch pillow? Got something to drink?

Re: I'm back home

Did you see the ad on this website referring to The 9 Best Stocks to Own Right Now? On the list are MSFT, JNJ, KMB, KO, INTC, but NLY is their #1 pick at the moment. It comes with a very high dividend and a WARNING.

Website is DTA@dailytradealert.

No I didn't see the ad so thank you kind sir for the information, I do own most of those stocks and will be looking hard at the others. And I bet NLY came with a warning. I owned it for a while but roller coasters are bad for my stomach.

Thanks again Handballer. Please have a cookie.;)

Here's today's snapshot of the fund analogs. Not very pretty.

I chose the fundamental and technical stats that are most important to me. Are there any others that folks would like to see me add? If so, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

I'm talking a hard look at my market positions and selling anything that looks even marginally unhealthy. I think the roller coaster is headed down.

Got it. But how about a PM next time instead of hiding it here in Maggie's thread? :D

We've had seven down market days in a row. I'd bet the ranch that we'll see a snap back up on Monday, just to get us back up into the Bollinger Band if for no other reason. But I can't believe that the uptrend will last. I'm betting on the bears even if we are supposed to be in the Santa Rally timeframe.

And on to more fun things to talk about.

Spouse brined our Thanksgiving turkey, first time we've tried that but it won't be the last. It was the most tender and flavorful turkey we've ever cooked. I made the brine, which called for everything from apples to onions. And lots of herbs and spices. We put it in a styrofoam cooler with lots of ice for about 24 hours. Worked great!

How was your turkey dinner? Try anything new?

I have to agree with you. Although I'm not a betting man, I think we'll see some sort of relief rally this week.

Thanks for your visit! And it looks like we were right. I'd love to think this rally is going to last, but I think that it will be gone as soon as the next bad news from Europe hits the ticker.

I'm betting against the market at this point. I'm currently 50/50 G/F. I'm actually hoping to see the market fall hard for a while. I think the boogie man in the closet is the disaster in Europe, which is going to come out again in a few days. Looks like some European countries are making disaster preparedness plans. I keep telling my wife that we need to get some cash out of the banks and in our hands in case of emergency, but she thinks I'm over-reacting. I just call it banking disaster insurance.

Good luck! ;)
