He was way ahead of his time. The best guarist. My top 3 1.Hendrix 2. Eddy Van Halen 3. jIMMY pAGE

I think I'd mentioned in a previous post about a lecture I attended with a hugely respected leader in the field of psychiatry - telling me in front of everyone that "I am in the top 1% of the world's best minds - in fact he actually went on to say he considered me even better than the top 1%". Apparently my comment impressed him.

In this same manner I would have to say your wisdom and judgement regarding knowing the quality of the world's greatest guitarists - indicates beyond the shadow of any doubt that you are undoubtedly at genius level - if not super genius. We should all be inspired by your input and know your words are true.

I would add Yngwie Malmasteen - who techically would be very hard to beat. Also would include Zakk Wylde. As for legends of the past Randy Rhodes was incredible.

just imagine the innovation Jimi Hedrix would have had if he had the full guitar effects/amps/etc of today? Man, you'd hear hell rise out of those tubes... or more like Line 6 now-a-days :)

Please read the first 2 parts of my last post (just before yours). That would definately apply to you. Man - you have no idea how many times that's run through my mind - I have pondered on that over and over. Very cool man - you know it. Of course I have no idea if you've seen my previous posts and know my ultimate dream of dreams - but in all sincerity EVERYTHING I'VE EVER SET MY HEART ON HAS COME TRUE - and so the biggest part of me thinks this one will as well. On that day the Spirit of Hendrix is back on the stage, I will have a section reserved in the front for you, 12%, DennisFAA and everyone else who convince me that Hendrix was the best.

Wonderful reflections ---- THANKS  Be cool.

Are you kidding me? the 100 greatest guitarist and Steve Vai is not listed. He is probably one of the most tecnical players of all time including Mr Ingwie J. Malmsteen- who I am a huge fan of. And where is Eric Johnson who could play circles around most those guys?

That's good enough for me to include you as well. You know what they say, "Great minds think alike". I noticed Steve wasn't on the list either (and I didn't remember seeing his teacher Joe on there either). But I may have mauled this over a tag more than you and the ones they have listed truely did shape the world of guitar music. Hendrix more than anyone else - but he had the foot switches which over the years brought in a new era of guitars/amps...etc...that largely allowed Steve to be what he became. I was surprized Page wasn't closer to the top - as he was largely the one to bring forth a totally new sound and a completely distinguished entity of music known back then as "UNDERGROUND". Of course Clapton was a big name - and a great guitarist - but I feel Page was bigger and better.

Anyway I could go on and on .... but in the history of the the 60s and 70s - when music evolved to shape society and the lifestyle we lived and the mindsets we developed - the 100 names they listed were far more influencial than Steve, Eric, or Ingwie.

Let me clarify about the one and only time I did smoke pot. I thought I have to try it once before I can discourage them from smoking, so I did. Nothing great happened, that I can recall, other than time slowing down.

Mamikin,
I hope you're still out there. After reading the posts last night I completely relived a Pink Floyd concert and essentially had a wonderful "high" just thinkn' about it. There are a few things you need to know - and have no doubt about this - you're with me and even though a bunch of the guys here are going to this concert we are all cool and I absolutely promise you no one would ever mess with my girl - and tonight you are totally mine. So don't feel awkward about the crowd. Now - equally important to that is the fact that in no way am I out to distroy your mind - to break down your morals or in anyway shape or form do anything that would make you feel uncomfortable and instill any feelings of dread, regret, or shame. But tonight you are floating completely in the Hippie Generation - you are totally into it - you love being with me and I make you feel safe - open - free - and perfect. So tonight you're going to smoke the highest quality imaginable, in the most perfect setting that could ever be created. This band were like the gods of music - with a style and a sound that was the ultimate.

So relax my sweet - allow yourself to be free of any constraint - and know beyond the shadow of any doubt that whatever happens with me will be an experience you'll thoroughly love and reflect on over and over for years to come.

Ok, I agree but the list should have read "The 100 most influential guitarist" not The Greatest because talent wise 70% 0f those guys couldn't play on the same stage with Vai, Malmsteen, Satriani and numerous more.
