Squalebear's Account Talk

Thanks for the answer to the IFT cancellation question. One more thing. Does anyone know how to graph and track your thrift account. Is there a website that I can go to where I can put in my starting amount in each fund and it can track and graph the fund and my total in realtime? The only thing that I know how to do is check my balance each day and that does not give me a very complete picture.

My TSP Portfolio
Track your Federal/Military Governments Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) retirement investments. Enter the number of shares you own in each fund and it will calculate your profits (or losses) from day to day. Hide the funds you don't use. Not affiliated with TSP. Ver-1.01

Thats a great starter tool Budnipper1, thanks for sharing that with Juliebeb.
I use a spreadsheet but never figured out how to automatically download the
final closing prices within the darn thing. So I've been doing it manualy.
Thanks Again ! ;)

Glad I could help. The google gizmo has worked fine for me for a year or two. It usually shows the daily results before 7:00 PM, (central time, here in hillbilly county) and doesn't require any "w-o-r-k" from me. That's a four-letter word I hate...:D

I have 2 of them on my Google homepage. 1 for my account and another for my wife's account. :D

Hi, Squale, my bags are packed and I'm headed out until Friday, but just wanted to stop and say hi first.

Looks like today could be an up day. So I know that you know the rules: Look at every day as a new one in your TSP, no old positions that you have to hang on to and prove them correct, just look at what you think the markets are going to do going forward from today.

So I'm thinking you have your finger on the trigger? Good luck, my friend! And to everybody hanging out at Squale's house, see you all on Friday!

Fed moves to buy commercial paper to ease market strain
By Greg Robb
Last update: 9:07 a.m. EDT Oct. 7, 2008

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- The Federal Reserve announced Tuesday it is going to buy commercial paper in an effort to restart a market that has virtually shut down in recent weeks. In another unprecedented move to combat the credit crunch, the Fed said it would set up a special purpose vehicle to purchase three-month unsecured and asset-backed commercial paper. Lending in the commercial paper market has shrunk in recent weeks given the turmoil in U.S. financial markets. The Fed said that the Bush Administration believed the move was necessary and will make a special deposit with the central bank to support the facility. "By eliminating much of the risk that eligible issuers will not be able to repay investors by rolling over their maturing commercial paper operations, this facility should encourage investors to once again engage in term lending in the commercial paper market," the Fed said in a statement. The Fed did not give an estimate of how much commercial paper it would purchase.

Holding You To It !

:)

I think folks are sick of this and if there are buyers will to risk then right after 12:00 PM we will have a good gage on this. It may be very short term the problem is IFT for many at noon could turn into a dud so lets see if this market has some backbone. I really see 700 and yes even 1000 is possible once the foreign markets jump in.

I still have 2 IFT's for this month. However, I am holding painfully strong as follows:

G - 5%
F - 0%
C - 45%
S - 40%
I - 10%

Hmmmm . . . .what to do now . . . . . .hmmmm? :suspicious:

Deadline Burden ! My eye's on it ! Maybe a lag rally for Europe will occur.

It's all high risk I am 100% C Fund and will be holding until I get my money back LoL no a good idea but if this really jumps up huge today then I will make a new plan for tomorrow. If the Fed makes this play it will be to save the big boys of the S&P 500 IMO and I just don't like the I Fund but maybe for a quick hit for a day problem is the foreign markets are having their own problems.

You've absorb a lot of pain, but you must put that behind you. Any rally
will be short lived (IMHO) and I'd progressively take some off the table
so when the stock funds hit a down day, your not losing as much as you
have gained. Even if the first 2 is putting it in the (F) Fund and then the
(G) thereafter. The goal in this method is to average a gain without being
a hog. Again, this is just my opinion and please read my signature. Today
is the first day of your Investment Life, Act Accordingly and don't look back.
Ultimately, you must decide. This could backfire in any market sell off. ;)

I hear you. I suppose I could take the extra money in the I fund, and dump it into the C or S; or the G for a slight increase .

SB is the I Fund expert. When it comes to the C Fund vs. the S Fund (SMALL CAPS) I call it survival of the fittest and who has enough to take on this storm. If LEH & Co had problems and went under we know there are many small caps in trouble and they need cash right now so IMO I would faavor the C Fund but there are many folks here with solid information. SB has the tracks in the I Fund and (ROBO) has the detail.

The market is all over the place up 50 next minute up 120 next minute up 70 so we do not want that down wave there is alot of buying & selling right now. Fast cash hedge funds in action !!!

The media is talking about staying invested and being close to the bottom.
Now that scares the heck out of me. I remember the 400 pt. gain in
the dow at 11:45am that turned into a major selloff by 4pm last week.
That would throw any TSP Participant into a tizzy, I was dizzy ! ;)
