Squalebear's Account Talk

Going Back To The (G)arage For A Long Awaited Break !

;)
2010 YTD Final = +27.1479%

:D

SB, Great numbers.

Just looking at my tracker numbers I am 10.92% YTD. But if I go to my account low point of July 6th I have come back a whopping 22.92% as of yesterday. Sure have gotten lucky. Have a great day my Jedi Master.

SB,
What did you think of the last 7:45 of the game Sunday:D

I've been a fan since 1978 and I got so angry, I turned the TV off before half time.

I turned it back on in the middle of the third quarter. I figured they still had a

shot at the playoffs and didn't have the heart to just walk away. All of a sudden,

history started to be made. Being a true Eagles Fan, I didn't get excited until they

actually tied the game. When Desean Jackson took it to the house, I was screaming so

loud, my German Shepard started to jump at me like we were fighting each other.

With my dog dangling on my forearm, I yelled and jumped while history was made.

TB broke out the Nitro and Oxygen ,,,, just in case !

That's absolutely wonderful my young apprentice. You had to come back
from adversity ! I too was down durning the week of January 29th,2010
with a -3.0609% YTD. Adding that to your mix gives one a more accurate
description of what you accomplished ! Well Done ! ;)

Outstanding year (18%) Squalebear, not bad for a gut feeling...

Thanks TM, The figures on the Automated Tracker are not accurate as I failed
on more then one occassion to keep up with my moves. Doctors, Pills and Rehab
interupted my normal routine, more often then I liked. If I hit that +0.29% today
then my +27.15% YTD will be my true accomplishment ! The bell just rang and it
looks like I'll do a tad better with today hitting +0.34% ;)

What a WONDERFUL Story!!!!

Gosh can I relate to that -- many times I wanted to do an Elvis and shoot the TV - I got so upset and then ...

....had to take a peek later on ..... and WOW !!!! Holy Cow !!!

It's genetics Squale -- Dad, Birch, and I are all screamers. Everyone of us actually believes that somehow our 'verbalizations' will have a direct bearing on the game... :D:D ... Gosh even Aleive does that stuff..

As for the big dog going wild  - oh my gosh can I relate to that.

You sound good Squale --- always a pleasure -- a great delight !!

Hey -- tell Teddy Bear you are the coolest dude in the whole world -- just in case that's slipped her mind. ;)

TB says hi Big Brother and laughed when I read your post aloud. When EAGLE FANS
watches the game on Sunday, they never disappoint ! Every emotion in your body
will be challenged ! ;)

SB, Glad you are cheering on a winner. Cleveland Brown's, Indians and Cavs fan thru and thru. One of these days a Cleveland team will win it all. Oh Yeah! OH---IO. Go Bucks. :D

Before I start rambling on about my year and the TSP, priorities must come first !

HAPPY NEW YEAR !
TO ALL MY FRIENDS AND THEIR FAMILIES !

Health Update; The old ticker isn't doing as well as it should and I'll be going
into the hospital tomorrow for a Cardiac Catherization (forgive my spelling) to
check various things. I should be out on the same day (barring any complications).

The doctor wants me to sit down with the Cardiac Transplant team sometime
after the holidays. I'll keep you informed as time permits. ;)

Happy NY to you, big brother bear. As I said in Maggie's thread, we're happy you're still with us, and may the new year treat you both well. will be thinking of you tomorrow and hoping updates will bring better news.

Congratulations To All Of The TSP Automated Tracker Winners ! More importantly, may this year be even better !

As many of you know, April of 2010 there was a significant change in my TSP Account.
I made the decision to remove 72% of my funds in order to purchase a home that
didn't have stairs. Further, 4 bedrooms were way too difficult to keep up with. Now, I
live mortgage free in a 2 bedroom rancher. The other house didn't sell and Citimortage
wanted to play games with me. My attorney said to walk away before they start
effecting my health and well being. Both decisions did not come easy, but had to be made.

With having a 5 figure balance (as opposed to my previous 6 figures) I took the remaining 28%
and went to work. The final tally is in and here are the results;

Month To Date: (December) + 5.3305%
Year To Date: (2010) + 27.2005%

When all was said and done, I managed to beat all TSP Funds except the (S) Fund which
came in at +29.06%. The (S) Fund also beat its counterpart (Wilshire4500) by 2.00%
and the (C) Fund beat the (S&P500) by 2.25% on a YTD basis. The (I) Fund out
performed the (MSCI EAFE) by a whopping 3.00%.

Thanks to you and a hand full of others, I believe my health and well being
is better then it would have been. Forever, you'll be a part of my heart !

Squale, thank you for keeping us updated. We're so happy that you did such a marvelous job managing your TSP last year. You take care of our very favorite bear!

Love ya,
Maggie

Right Back At'cha my Steel Magnolia ! Maggie, Thanks for all of the hard work you do (behind the scenes) here at TSPTalk :)

I'm glad you were able to downsize, those two story houses are pesky. My in-laws purchased one and we had no idea how much extra work is involved, great if you have young kids, not so much so for your golden years. I'm extremely happy you did so well this year on the tracker, you were sneaky, climbing slots unnoticed. Then one day I looked up and thought to myself "how'd that happen?" A great eneding to a tough year, congrats!

Squalebear, may I add my congratulations to what's been said!
In addition, you have given some encouraging words for those (like me) whose accounts have slipped below that `spirit-raising' 6 figure amount...
You are an inspiration to see what come-backs can be accomplished by paying attention & getting `off the lily-pad. Thank you for sharing that.

We are grateful, too, that you took the advice of your attorney, and removed yourself & family from that often paralyzing emotional stress of obligations no longer in our control.

You and your medical team are in our prayers. God Bless you & yours through this Whole year! :D

SB, my Jedi master HAPPY NEW YEAR. The Force is strong within you.

Thanks Nasa, Grandma and JTH !

Some advice to those young'ns who feel too straped to increase their TSP Accounts.

If you get a 2% raise from good old Uncle Sam, Find out what that means (Gross)
on a yearly basis. Divide it by two (2) ,,,, then divide it by 26. Add the amount
to your current TSP Contributions. Before you know it, you'll have 17% of your pay
going towards your retirement. However, if your putting in less then 5%, your first
priority is to get that Full 5% Match. The plan stays the same ! Use your yearly
increases to help your TSP grow. This is the simple plan. Some may want you to
only put 5% into the TSP and any post-tax extra going into a Roth IRA. It has its
merits. Point being: YOU MUST ASSIST IN YOUR TSP's GROWTH. Not always
easy to accomplish, but, always necessary ! :) ;) :)
