Squalebear's Account Talk

Today, the EFA closed down -.21% and the (I) Fund closed down
-.83% which resulted in a -0.12 YTD tsp cent deficit. It could go
in either direction for tomarrow (flip a coin). Will the Fund Managers
give us some well deserved payback and drive the deficit to single
digits (its goal),,,, or ,,,, will they add to the deficit by allowing the
(I) to underperform the EFA again? If I knew those answers, I'd be
a Premium Service and retired after 20 years.

EFA vs TSP (I) DEFICIT:

(6/03/08) - .624% -0.12 tsp cents

Nasa1974,

"I know your account is more popular than mine,"
No, I've been here longer and people feel sorry for me.
"but I am surprised that I have over 2800 views already."
No, I have an automatic Nasa1974 viewer. It automatically
clicks on your thread every 15 minutes, when I'm out at the pool.
"Anyway I just posted this on my account"
I know, I have automatic response software too. I just wrote you.

Your always welcome to use my thread Nasa1974, Just add a few bikini's
once in a while. I'm a visually stimulated kind of guy. Who knows, if I did
not find this website, I'd probably be addicted to internet porn or something.

LOL :D:D:D Thanks Squalebear.

Heading home from Florida today. I will have to find you a nice bikini picture:cool:

Better then expected Economic Reports this morning fail to take the
futures out of negative territory. Lehman's down 2.5% today and its
anyones guess, concerning what the late afternoon will bring. I'm
expecting a change to the positive around noon, but the coin I flip
has heads on both sides.

2nd and final unrestricted IFT. From now until July, its back to the (G).

The (I) is lagging again and could result in adding to the deficit. I toyed
with the idea of doubling my (I) position, but the deficit could go either
way. The market was slow to respond to the good economic news, but
respond they did (currently). I also wanted more in the USM, then the
OSM. With all the "bearish symbols" out there, I guess you can call me
a contrarian. (i think). I'll take portions from each fund as they (hopfully)
go upward. This is where it gets difficult and I don't want to make the
same mistake I did in May. Good Luck To Us All.
:cheesy:

Today's minor outperfomance of the (I) Fund over the EFA resulted in
the payback of .04 tsp cents towards the deficit and (yet again) left
the deficit within its single digit goal (-0.08). Today rollercoaster ride
didn't give me much confidence in my decision to jump in at 100%.
But, the three tsp stock funds have been down (combined average)
for three days in a row and are currently down -1.27% for the week.
The (C) didn't change, the (S) had a minor gain. My IFT for today was
my last for June (unrestricted). I'm hoping the few speculators, that
see a 2% gain in June, be correct and we all profit from this month.
Friday will be a big day and could be the tell (poker analogy) we're all
looking for. I got my fingers crossed and hope for 4 aces (poker again).
Gee, does it sound like I believe my moves resembles gambling ?

Excellent call my friend. Diversity is usually better than putting all your eggs in one basket - but I need to learn some lessons the hard way. Anyway - good timing and very good choice.:toung:

Thank you my friend, I didn't feel that way yesterday and questioned my
50% move big time. Rolling the dice this early in the month (with limits) is
nerve raking to say the least. There's a certain amount of comfort I get in
knowing that if I go to the (G) for the rest of 2008, I'll be up +11.0% YTD.
But you know me, I can't stay out that long and will take more risks. The
deficit didn't move but for a penny. It is still in single digits. I don't know
what the Economic Reports will do tomarrow, but if we get better then
expected bad news again, yes, the market will go up again and I will take
some off the table to lock in some savings.

YOUR ATTENTION IS REQUESTED:

Here in New Jersey, the state currently taxes your gross income and does not treat the TSP as if it were a 401k. When it comes time to retire, the state taxes you again. According to N.J. State Senator Diane Allen, the state is promoting life long residents to leave N.J. I couldn't agree more. Yesterday, Senator Allen intruduced Bill #1706 which states that N.J. will treat the TSP like private sector 401k's and make the TSP Tax Defered. This is great news. But there are many states out there doing the same thing that N.J. has been doing for years. It is for that reason that I ask each and every New Jersey TSP shareholder to contact their local politicians and anyone on the Appropriations Comittee and urge them for support. Anyone in the other great states who feel they can help, please do so as its deeply appreciated.

The FTSE100 is current up +.82%,,,,the dollar is down -.03% against the
Euro and deficit between the EFA and (I) is at its single digit goal..........
Still, FV's showing such a negative number that some believe the (I)
fund will have a uphill battle to get into positive territory. Everything else
shows green but FV. It'll interesting to see how the Fund Managers play
this one out.

SB, Nice profits yesterday. I am still in G. Still a little nervous with only two moves for the month. Just a little more cautious I need to check some of the other sites I look at before I make a move. Still have a feeling that next week may be a downer. :worried: Anyway some real nice winners yesterday. Congrats to all that made the early move.

What a difference a day makes, or worse yet, what a difference the
Employment Report makes. Add that to one of the largest move in oil
price history and "pooh" is what we got. At this point, I've given up all
the gains from yesterday, except for .25% and I'm hoping that someone
comes in to buy before the days over. Wishful thinking, not too realistic.
Enough said, why add to the misery. Like many members tell me, the
market doesn't go straight up, nor straight down. Time to look forward
because I have no doubt, we'll see yesterdays prices again.
:(

SB, you've got a really good heart!

Taxes are pretty hard to avoid, no matter what we do. Birch's suggestion of avoiding the 1099s and keeping your adjusted gross income below the upper 60's is the best bet.

Anyway - GL my friend.

Steady, I must have missed that info. If you could provide a link or
explain the details (a bit) I'd be in your debt. After all, I'm trying to
achieve two impossible feats. Avoiding taxes and death. The odds
are against me, but try I must. Anything you can add is appreciated.
One last thing, should the below mentioned Bill pass the Appropriations
Committee, the young bucks just joining the TSP will benefit much more
then us old heads. Tax deferred by the state taxing authorities would
mean more money in their Recessionary Wallets.
;)

Tough cookie to swallow today, there's nothing left to say about that.
The USM was way undervalued before today and I can only hope that
some very influential investors take advantage of the bargain basement
prices on Monday. If anything is certain about this week, two things
stand out. 1) Barclays controls the deficit and uses it at will. 2) Some
(like me) lost alot more then what we made yesterday. Forever the
optimist, If we didn't go in until today, we'd be much worse off. The
lose of 1% this week isn't so bad and I'm still up over 5% YTD. So I'm
gonna suck it up, man up and get over it. At least until Monday.
