Is it a buying opportunity of are we in for a ride?

I think if you do not have the stomach you need to wait this one out until you see some positive technicals. DCA buying to the down side in small increments would be good for a long term position.

Everyone: You need to push your new guys and your old guys to increase contributions. This is the time to be DCA IMO.

Good luck everyone.

I'm in a similar boat, and I'm opting to 100 G to stop the bleeding...

I'll get it back later...but things have to even out a little...and right now we're in a downward spiral...

Show-me-

I see you decided to buy on the day. Good luck- I couldn't stomach it, but I think you may be right. Markets seem to be responding nicely to the rate cut. Let's see if it holds out, or if it's just a pause for a day before another big drop.

Good luck, buddy. You are doing far better than me this year.

Dodged the big bullet today!

Whew! Dodged the big bullet today. The PPT rode in to save the day and I doubted them. Paulson was giving a speech saying nothing and the "breaking news" came over the air.

My move today my be reckless but nothing goes straight down. Five days in a row and the closing candlestick is either a Doji or a Hammer. Both represent a change in the current trend and we need it.

Market will continue down, but in steps. Be nimble, cautious, and careful. If you are close to retirement age, within 5 years, use Capital Preservation and max out your contributions. Contribute until you bleed, you will be glad you did when you sign the retirement papers. :)

John Smith started the day early having set his Alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) for 6am.
While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA)was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG).
He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE)and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA)
After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch(MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA)he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY) filled it with gas(from Saudi Arabia )and continued his search for a good paying AMERICAN JOB.
At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day checking his computer (made In Malaysia),Joe decided to relax for a while.
He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in AMERICA ?

I'm see some of what I would consider quality stock showing a Doji after the strong rally. DD, CAT, BBY, BA, and WAG to name a few. That would indicate that buying pressure is waining on those stocks.

How about that I fund?

Funny how in 1992 that guy was spot on and we ignored him.

I will add the reason that I looked up those old clips was because a major manufacture in our area just announce they will be laying off hundreds of job in about six months. The local reporter asked the tough questions of why and where are the jobs going? The reply was out of the country.

I know for a fact they are going to Mexico. I have a friend that quit his job in maint. at the PO to go there a few years ago. I tried to convince him otherwise.

Hear the "giant sucking sound"? That would be NAFTA. I also know that Ford and GM told this company to move to Mexico or we will breach our contract with you.

Think about that when you drive to the polls in your Ford or GM product and vote for the party that developed NAFTA and the other party that enacted it.

We are so screwed, it just takes time.

STA sez worst January was -7.6% in 1970. We have already had the worst first five days in January, what are the odds of the worst month of January too.
