Re: Biopsy

Biopsy went well, I got to sit with her while they did it. When they say large needle biopsy they really mean small pipe biopsy. It gave me the willys several times, now the wait for the results.

When it rains it pours, for those who don't know me I have been fighting Thyroid Medullary cancer for 14 years. Three months ago they detected a small mass on my lungs under sternum. My three month follow up on Wednesday show significant growth and it has metastasized. Next week I suspect I will be going under the knife again. Waiting sucks over a three day weekend.

Please pray for me too. Cancer is a bitch.

I wish the best for your wife and you.

Re: Biopsy

Good news for the wife, but not so good for you. Just keep doing what you did before, you're a tough one my friend.

Re: Biopsy

Show-me and Mrs Show-me, I truly am sorry to hear about your troubles. Y'all are in my prayers and I ask that He gives you the strength for this situation and that He guides the doctors to help both of you in your struggle. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help.

Re: Thank you

I gave up on prayer in 1968 while in Vietnam but have always maintained a profound optimism for good health care. You are facing a serious reality just like Spaf. I'm sure your life has order and you have made ample sacrifice - preparation for the next step will be difficult initially. Don't lose your integrity and don't wait until you can't feed yourself....the last 14 years have given you much to be thankful for but time now is probably running short. Remember the days when your life was on the line when you were a "grunt" - derive strength from that training and you will be fine. Take care. Dennis

Life insurance

I'm doing better tonight even after I missed my Dr. call this evening. Been on OPM website looking a life insurance information, they have a great calculator that everyone should check out. It made me feel better about my family.

Did you know that as a federal employee you can request the basic portion of your life insurance policy if your Dr. claims you have less than 9 months to live. You don't get the full amount but it could help. Full policy with a multiple of 5 is the way to go.

Re: Life insurance

I'm sorry to hear this news. Cancer is a bitch. I hope all goes well. Don't let it get you down. I know what your going through.

I had a long talk with my Dr. and it looks like lymph nodes in my upper chest. Next Tuesday I have a PET scan and consult with the cardiothoracic surgeon. He said they would have to crack my upper chest and remove all of the nodes if the PET does not show anything more dramatic in other areas. Ouuuuch! I also have one node under each jaw that he wants to take out, but could only do one during chest procedure.

Mike,
Take one day at a time and use all of the modern medical advancements to your advantage. Sometimes that means advocating for yourself and seeking out better options. That could mean travelling to one of the cancer research powerhouses. The Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston kicks butt (www.dana-farber.org) and there are others around the country too. It is truely amazing what these increadibly intelligent dedicated professionals can do now days...and having Federal Health Insurance sure helps too! So even with all that, the most powerful force in your favor is PRAYER! I will add you and your lovely wife to my prayers. He is there with you both for every step of this journey that you are on. God Bless you and the Mrs.
Ray

It's been a while since I've been here but for whatever reason, I took a look around as a guest two days ago, clicked on your account, and saw the news. You and yours are certainly in my thoughts Show-Me.
