Sensei's account talk

Will be interesting (and painfull) to see if this takes us down to the 50 day. If it does, that could be the beginning of the end.

Asia continued lower today. I'll be watching Europe to see which way it goes.

The S&P right now is in a difficult position. If you look at the EMAs, you could say it's finding support at the 20 day. Just above it. But if you look at the SMAs, you could argue that the 20 day has become resistance, as the last two days closed just below it. If Europe continues down, and Monday morning finds our market following lower, I will think about selling. If we don't bounce right away here, then I will have to look at yesterday as consolidation before more selling pressure.

The other option is to put on sticky pants and wait for another run up. But if we see a drop to the 50 day, then I don't think there will be a new high until battling a while with the 20 day. Definitely getting dicey. The key is to be resolute in one's decision, whichever it may be.

" From a contrarian point of view, pouring money into bond funds continues to be a very positive development as it shows we are a very long way from the excess exuberance that is seen at market tops."

Vacation always meddles with my concentration on the stock market, and seems to always result in my losing money. I should have noticed the first day that the S&P closed below the 20 day SMA, but I guess I only looked at Tom's commentary - he uses the EMA - so I thought support was holding. Anyway, no complaining, and no turning back time. Here's last year's bull market:

Kind of the same thing. 20 day was above the 50, then the price broke down below the 50. The 50 gave a little better fight back then, and there was some battling between the 20 and 50 for a while. The result, however, was eventually a return to the highs. Watch out, though, because last time this action was the beginning of a top.

I'm going to hold on until I get back what I had. Hopefully that will happen this month.

One of my favorite TV programs is Minja Warrior. Maybe next season I will be the token American selected for this event. I do my 25 pushups and work with my 5 pound dumbells daily. That gives me a body most evny. Wish me luck.

I hate to break it to you, but my wife told me the one they did at the end of 2011 was to be the last. They did it a few times a year for several years, but I guess it lost its ratings appeal. Your routine sounds impressive though. :laugh:I'm sure some American cable channel will do a third-rate spin-off, then you'll be set for life. Who needs the TSP when you can shred it like Handballer?!

A lot of air traffic over Okinawa today. I think we're getting ready for the big game. I'm no war-monger, but I do believe that a freedom loving country needs to put the smackdown on that fat manchild north of the 38th parallel.

The Japanese school my daughter attends is now doing air raid drills. Somewhat reminiscent of when I was in elementary school during the Reagan era.

Stay safe Sensei. We are living in crazy times.

?? You referring to my TSP account? Many of us are having a rough go of it so far this year.

Thats too bad. I did want to compete for the title. Geting in this good shape will help me when I walk the beach here. I need not fret because some tough guy will have second thoughts about kicking sand in my face.

I look forward to seeing American Ninja Warrier next month on the G4 TV network.

Also next month:
Women of Ninja Warrior. I may miss some baseball games but what the hell.

Handballer - I'm saying that with your regimen, you'll kick so much tail and rake in so much reward money, the TSP will be a drop in the bucket. Not too funny if I have to 'splain it. Anyhow, the female version is good too. They call the male version "Sasuke" and female version "Ku-no-ichi" over here, but I guess Ninja Warrior makes sense for the U.S. audience. Sounds like there's an American adaptation in the works. It ought to be good.

Best of luck with the trading. I meant no disrespect. Maybe I need to polish the comedy skills. :o

Thanks, Murph. I don't anticipate any danger. The worst I can imagine is that Japan will down the missile with their PAC3, and some debris will scatter over the ocean. The flight path is supposed to go over Ishigakijima and Miyakojima - the second and third largest of the islands of Okinawa. I think the main island, where I am, is well off course. It sure is occupying a lot of TV air time over here though. That, and some crazed driver who crashed into a marketplace in Kyoto and killed a bunch of people along with himself. Kind of like that old man at the Santa Monica farmers' market several years ago. Bad stuff.

I hope the rally in stocks continues, but Europe is a little lacking in conviction. Like they say - you take the elevator down, and the stairs back up.

My wife and I decide that this summer, on our trip back to LA, we want to do a little side trip to Vegas. Treasure Island has a $79/night special, and looks like a good place to take kids. So I start to make the reservation, and there's a disclaimer as I proceed telling me that there is a $25+tax/night "resort fee" on top of the regular 10% tax. Is this the latest scheme to veil price hikes? Like when airlines advertise a low price, then tack on a "gas tax". Just friggin' raise prices and chalk it up to inflation, for godsake. Ridiculous.
