Fort Hood shows that no matter what country you claim your loyalty are to a different cause or organization. That bastard counseled with militant sympathizers as to whether it was OK to do it. He should be tried as a traitor, but the liberal media is sitting on this story big time. Why?

Phil, James,

I ask again, why? Why is this story not being torn open and every lead exploited for the evening news? Why? We know why and the silence is very telling.

Speaking for myself, I don't think it's good policy to politicize a military justice case, any more than it's a good idea to try this airline civilian in a military court martial. It's an incident on a military base, done by a military officer.

SHOULD we ask our federal government to try the case directly? SHOULD we try the case, as you appear to want, publicly?

Should the federal government also intervene in other cases involving military justice in other places? Shall we politicize these incidents as well?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091230/ap_on_re_as/as_afghanistan

Shall we move the US attorneys to investigate this case as well? Clearly, it involves US forces. We can do that, as opposed to having an investigation done by the military.

Let me know, though you might not like it when it happens.
Some advice: Be careful what you wish for, it might come true. Mob rule will destroy the republic. Apparently, this is what many people want in this country. I don't support it from either party. I also didn't support the idea in the former administration, fomenting hatred in the wake of 9/11.

By the way, you might think I'm some liberal. But from my own viewpoint, I'm probably the most conservative person on this board......by far.

Phil, James,

Maybe we should start a TSP book club, anyone want to send me a copy of "The Utility of Force"? When I'm done I will send it postage paid to the next reader. When there is no more demand, the last reader sends it back to the owner?

Hey BC, if you get a copy, let me know, you can pass it on to me when you're done. I'll pass it on to whoever is next in line.

I also noticed another book at the end of Grandma's link re Pvt Slovik-book called "Christianity and War". the Amazon reviews make it sound like a worthwhile read. I may get that one myself and would be willing to pass it on when done. I read one other book on the subject in my earlier years.

News is news. Freedom of the press. Big news makes big ratings or maybe they, the liberal media, doesn't want to embarrass or corner their golden boy?

If it was a white anti semitic or anti minority officer under the Bush administration, do you think it would get the same obvious down play?

This is killing you I can tell, because in your heart you know this is true. You just do not want to admit.

What will destroy the Republic is allow people to vote who will never pay a dime to fund the Republic's many entitlement programs. Come one, come all, you can vote yourselves free money from the taxpayers!!!!

Phil, James,

I don't understand your question. What are you looking for? What does "not being torn apart" mean? What are you expecting the press to look into?

Why are they not following all the developments? Investigating on their own? Investigating and hounding the Muslim cleric? Digging into their past? Giving some sort of updates? Calling it what it is? A suicide mission from a American military officer that was obviously sympathetic to the Muslim extremest and received counsel from one of their clerics? Where is the media outrage?

The media is more outraged that NBC paid for the charter flight of the guy that got his son back from Brazil.

This is a mass murdering terrorist! Were are the exposes on the familiar? Get those ratings up will a heart tugging story about the military families left behind.

Wait, I get it now. They would have to admit there really is a terrorist problem in the USA and the Obama admin. has been down playing it.

Sometimes news is news. Sometimes it's not news. You want freedom of the press? You really don't know how much I agree with you.

This administration at least makes some attempt to be transparent to people. However, even if a lot of information is known, a lot will also never see the light of day.

Do I think if it was an anti-minority officer, he/she would receive different treatment? Well, in my opinion, if he/she were anti-minority, they SHOULDN'T be an officer. But I'm old school. I don't know what passes today.

The mob is right. What more do you need? He planned and carried out the systematic murder of 14 souls and wounded many more. There are dozens of witnesses. Evidence that links him to a radical Muslim cleric that promotes the killing of American. The same radical Muslim cleric he got council from.

Seems the mob is seeing thing more clearly than you and want to end the drama and expense to the taxpayer.

What is your opinion, guilty or innocent?

Why are they not following all the developments?
They are. There really aren't a lot of developments. Hassan is in custody, and they are preparing for trial. Not much news there.

Investigating on their own?
Investigating what? I see lots of stories on Hassan continuing. Here: http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/FtHoo...wlaki-kill-american-soldiers/story?id=9410718

Investigating and hounding the Muslim cleric?
Hounding the guy in Yemen? He's not in a position to give interviews, ya know-

Digging into their past?
Into who's past? The cleric? They did that months ago. Hassans? They did that months ago also. Old news.

some sort of updates?
Google shows 1,198 stories in the last week on Hassan. What more do you want? http://news.google.com/news/search?aq=f&pz=1&cf=all&ned=us&hl=en&q=nidal+hassan

I haven't seen it called much else in any of those stories. Not sure what you are talking about.

Nobody is playing down anything.
