S-fund Challenge! Guesses

User, what is going on with your virtual balance? Is that a typo?

That's the real deal virtual balance. The results of many experimental trials and (more) errors. But I think time going forward, and the future virtual (and real) balance will make the hit this current virtual balance suffered worth the while... as I think I've got my "holy grail."

P.S. Switching over to 3X also amplified my losses a bit.

Got it.

Just in case you hadn't heard or noticed, in sum: trades cost $5 to, and from a cash position; $10 from long to short and vice versa. We no longer automatically move traders to cash. The last proper trade will stand until properly changed by the trader. And we are trading simulated 3X etf funds of the S-Fund (bull and bear). Theses changes were implemented retroactively.
