RealMoneyIssues' Account Talk

Wow, so... since I am "inflowing" over 2% a month and my PIP is around 12%, then my return must be -12%...

I think I am going to leave everything in G, at least there I will get +1.75%

That can't possibly be right. I'm not sure it's even possible to lose 12% over the last 12 months. We've gone straight up for over half of it.

Remember, RMI likes to trade and if you make the wrong decisions - well things happen with unintended consequences.

Why not? I lost over half of that since May 22. Ben's Fed triggered sell-off triggered some of our stop losses only to see the market rally back up without us. OUCH!!! The Pain! The Pain!

Try rereading what ive said because I dont think you are getting it. X% inflow from controtibutions does not result in an X% increase in PIP. Inflow/outflow is NOT gains/loses... but it does affect your average account balance. Like I said... it causes your gains to be weighted.

if you gained $0 but contributed/withdrew some non-zero amount, your PIP would be zero.

PIP reflects ONLY gains and losses. Your contributions are ultimately subtracted from change in account value to get the PIP. If it says 12% you made 12%. I investigated this in pretty heavy detail a few years ago. The methods used to calculate PIP are posted somewhere on the TSP site but I forget where.

Wow ... great returns! Good for you Mapper. Maybe you should be selling a premium service!?

Well, still suffering through my stupid final essays, but had to stop by and say hi... Have I said this week that I hate writing???

So, where are the markets going next week? It is a mixed bag as it looks like the NASDAQ is taking the lead. That would normally be good, but I am skeptical on the long side. I will wait for it to close above and confirm above the 50 MA. Its 20 MA is about to cross below the 50, which has already happened on the broader market index, the S&P 500 (and the DOW, but it isn't a great index to analyze, just to tout on CNBC).

Overall, the market is looking bearish, so unless we have some stupendous news (oh wait, could be really bad news) to make the market bounce (gap above) the 50 MA, then close higher the next day... well, I am just thinking things are just too weak right now.

Finally, after 6 months of bullish moves, my thoughts on the market going down is finally coming true... maybe

I am in G...

Have a great week-end yall... back to my stupid essays...

Well, one step forward, two steps back...

I may just sit out the month in cash just to take a break...

I was hoping that this was going to be a bull head fake, but too many people I trust are going long today...

Looks like I might have to suck up another loss, which is getting old.

Have a great day folks!!

Wow, I agree with you. I take it as a head fake also. So I'll just watch.:notrust:
