RealMoneyIssues' Account Talk

Glad you did not go all in. I started to, but backed out with about 30 seconds left. Still in the G.

Oh, no, don't get me wrong, I only move 100% in TSP. I am 100% failed move into S... I can only hope for a bounce... With all this "hope" I keep having to say, I might turn Democrat ;)

Well, the dip buyers did actually come in, but not before the bears took it down to 1560... maybe they will be happy about it. I am still underwater but a gap fill today would be nice with a little bounce tomorrow as icing.

I guess the markets going down just before TSP cutoff caused a lot of people to bail to G... May not be a bad idea, no matter how much of a bounce we see in the next day or two. There has been some pretty serious technical damage to the charts and it will take much longer and probably more downside to repair or to produce a sizable bounce. I hope very few of you decide to ride it down.

Probably bailing Wed COB, but lets see what the bulls have in store for us...

Well, I need to ignore the markets, class final this week... so, as much as I wanted to stay off this forum today, I couldn't do it... so, I will endeavor to be absent the rest of the week. Besides, the market is not doing what I want... go up? please...

Wish me luck :D

Discussion Forum Question:
Pick one of the arguments presented by the expert panel members in your Fukuyama readings and present its pros and cons. Support your arguments and offer alternative solutions for any cons.

Final Questions:
1 - What biases, if any, might be common to U.S. intelligence agencies? Give two examples from history or modern day?
2 - Explain what role policymakers play and what problems they face in relation to threat analysis.

Should be fairly straightforward from our books (4 just for this class), but we'll see how it goes.

Have a great week!!

I don't know too much about the markets and whatnot but with the surge as of late with my PIP reading 29% I thought to myself how much higher could it go right now? So i decided to trust my gut and go into G 100%. Couple days later the Feds came out with their news and these dips. I'm a noob and only got 20k in my account but it felt pretty good that I avoided these hits hah. Just reading and trying to learn as I go...

That is a pretty awesome PIP!! The highest I have received is somewhere around 21%. Congrats.

We are all learning and I don't have much more than you do. Take the time to determine what your goals are and then how to attain them. If we truly are starting a bear market or significant correction, prior buy & hold strategies will no longer work.

Read, search, and ask questions.

Good Luck!!

here is the answer to your fukuyumama final question #1 about bias: http://www.tsptalk.com/mb/politics/16818-*-verizon-million-phone-records.html#post411527

as for the rest of the exam, all i can say is, if it's multiple choice and you aren't sure then your best option is usually 'd) both a and b' since 'e) all of the above' is often a trick.

good luck.

Wow, futures are up!!!

Oh, wait, nevermind... there is too much selling pressure. every bounce is sold. I should never have gone long "hoping" that there would be some dip buyers. now there are only top sellers... grrr

Ok, back to my stupid writing...

The strength from this morning has evaporated. Any bounce is still getting sold, small caps are lagging, and volatility is not going down in any significant manner.

I just don't see how we can continue up with these conditions. I would also not be surprised to see the market opening gap filled by late this afternoon with another sell-off.

If this continues tomorrow, I may have to go back to cash and see if this market can make any inroads up or if the sell off will just continue just like the rest of the global markets...

"Hope" is waning... :notrust:

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.” - Frank Herbert - Dune

And my empty bank account...

Funny, I was just watching Dune this week-end.

Woohoo, futures are already down 0.50%

Gotta love it...

They usually don't start doing anything significant until after midnight. I guess tomorrow could be interesting.

Nikkei is about even, USD is getting a pop...

Japan is down 2%... woohoo!!

Japan recovered to only be down 1%

USD is on a tear

Gold is down big, down to around 1225

ES futures are up since the European markets opened, recovering nearly 1% from their low last night, currently up 0.33%

So far, most gap ups have been sold so lets see if today is different.
