ravensfan's Account Talk

The beatings will continue until morale improves...

I had a colleague (he has since retired) that used to use this line all the time when the staff was receiving a mandate from above. It always made us laugh. So, thank you for bringing a smile to my face. I needed that!

ravensfan,

How are you and your wife doing? New Orleans is now the latest hotspot. My cousin and his wife were there the beginning of the month (she had a conference there) and both have come down with the virus.

Sorry to hear your cousin and his wife have come down with the virus. Will be praying they come through this okay. As for my wife and I, we are both doing fine and have not displayed any of the symptoms related to the virus. Obviously we became concerned when New Orleans was declared a hot spot, but I think we dodged a bullet on this one. Mostly for safety concerns, we would only go out during the day when it was not as crowded and then in the evening, we would observe the crazies from our 4th floor private balcony. So by shear dumb luck I think we avoided any exposure. It has been 30 days since we were there and with none of the symptoms, I think we are in the clear. Thanks for asking. I hope all is well with you and yours. :D

Glad to hear you and your wife are dong fine. Talked to my cousin yesterday he said they are into day 12 and feeling a little better, but it is exhausting. Everyone here is doing fine. It's tough not to be able to hug the grandkids. We try to FaceTime every other day. Finished up my first week of telework. Not something I could get use to. Hope the stock market starts to get better.
Stay safe and healthy.

New month, new direction...doesn't look like it today...different month, same $hit.

Had to go to the bank this morning. Here in Maryland the Governor has issued a mandatory stay at home order and only essential (groceries, bank, pharmacy, Dr., essential employee's) are acceptable reasons to be on the road. Due to the Corona Virus only the ATM and drive through banking was available, no lobby service. Had to wait in line for an hour and a half before I was able to do my business.

Good luck everyone and stay safe. :D:D:D

So huge up day on Monday and barely negative today in the S&P500. Me thinks this is a sucker rally...

Nope, not going to take the bait. :D:D:D

Good luck everyone!

I'm tempted to try again if we get back to the bottom of this flag-looking channel, which wouldn't necessarily be a test of the lows. However, I do think there's a good chance we'll test lows eventually when more unemployment numbers come out, there are flare-ups with the virus after most of us have let our guard down, terrible earnings reports, etc. Between now and any test of the lows, should I enter the market, I'll be very cautious. If I catch one of those furious rallys, I'd likely take the money and run.

Check out Pivotboss Technical Analysis that nnuut posted yesterday. He talks about that channel you mentioned. Waiting till we get back to the bottom of the channel before making another attempt myself.

Good luck!!!

I did watch it and this mornings pre-market analysis as well. I'm afraid his other scenario might be playing out now, which leaves me confused. But, I'm usually confused. I suffer from FOMO like all the rest, so it was easier to stay put until I saw today's close. Naturally, I'm reluctant to make a move over the weekend. Perhaps they need to coin a new acronym: AFHMO (Anxiety From Having Missed Out).

Remember back in the day when the G fund was giving us a gain of 0.05% per week. So far this month, 0.02%. Of course back in 2006, the average monthly gain was 0.40%. My how times have changed...

Good luck everyone!!! :D:D:D

Okay, so where do I order my "I survived Corona 2020" tee shirt???

The G fund is a joke but were else can you put money in hopes of not loosing it. You can get the same return putting money under your mattress. At least there it acts as insulation and you might save a few dollars on your electric bill. I wish the TSP gods would come up with some other type of fund that is pretty safe and has a return. The Fed has made it so that we are forced to take on risk. If I had years to go before retirement I may not mind as much but I am only a few years away and I hate gambling the possibility of having to push my target date out. I seen that happen to people in 08 who ended up having to a few years more after that crash.

I remember when the "G" fund was 6-8% per year.

The other day I made a joke about getting a tee shirt that read "I survived the 2020 Corona virus. Look what I found today...

Toilet Paper Shortage.jpg

I make a joke and someone else makes a buck. Guess that's why I'll never be part of the 1%...;damnit

Today's drop is a tempting buy, but with oil being the big drag on the market, I'm not comfortable making a move. But I could be a buyer if the S&P hits 2500...

Ugh...another day of retirement, another day of quarantine. Not exactly how I envisioned my golden years to play out...:ugh:

On the good side though, thank goodness for "Classic Nascar" and the NFL Network. At least my guilty pleasures are being fed.

Looking forward to the NFL draft on Thursday. :D:D:D

Be safe everyone:beerchug::beerchug:wash your hands and practice social distancing...

Well it wasn't a game, but it sure was exciting to watch the 2020 NFL Draft and forget about the market and all the political mud slinging for awhile. And of course, my Ravens cleaned up as usual. :D:D:D

Just hope this Corona Virus is in the rear view mirror by the time the season starts.:worried:

Okay everybody, stay safe and wash your hands...
