And our President, the economic genius that he is, said last night during his state of the union address: "Anyone claiming America's economy is in decline is peddling fiction."

So that's what caused today's decline! It seams like whenever someone in a position of power talks the market tanks. It's enough to make you wish they'd just shut up.

My lazy gun - author unknown

Today I Placed my .357 revolver on the table right next to my front door. Ileft 6 cartridges beside it, then left it alone and went about mybusiness.
While I was gone, the mailman delivered my mail, the neighbor's son across thestreet mowed the yard, a girl walked her dog down the street, and quite a fewcars stopped at the "stop" sign near the front of my house.

After about an hour, I checked on the gun. It was quietly sitting there, rightwhere I had left it. It had not moved itself outside. It had not killed anyone.Certainly, even with the numerous opportunities it had presented to do that. Infact, it had not even loaded itself.

Well you can imagine my surprise, with all the hype by the left and the mediaabout how dangerous guns are and how they kill people. Either the media iswrong or I'm in possession of the laziest gun in the world.

The United States is 3rd in Murders Throughout The World. But if you take outjust 5 'left-wing' cities: Chicago, Detroit, Washington DC, St Louis and NewOrleans -- the United States is 4th from the bottom, in the ENTIRE World, forMurders.

These 5 Cities are controlled by Democrats. They also have The Toughest GunControl Laws in the USA.

It would be absurd to draw any conclusions from this data, right?

Well, I'm off to check on my spoons. I hear they're making people fat.

Nice to see the market hold onto its gains today. For those that had the nerve to get in this week, congrats!!! S&P500 (C Fund) was up 3 of the 4 days.

Still concerned though as the 50SMA is still below the 200SMA. Hoping this is not just a DCB and the recovery is underway.

If tomorrow opens to the upside, may just get back in. :D:D:D

In looking at the futures this morning (Dow down 354 points) it appears yesterday was a dead cat bounce. That's a shame. I was really hoping the bottom was in and the recovery had begun.

With that said, I'll just patiently wait on the deck of the ark, secure in the G Fund.

Good luck to all you brave souls who are invested.

Just saw this on Fox Business

Slowing Chinese Economy + Global Oil Glut + Lifting Iran Sanctions = Global Market Selloff

So that's what's going on.

The beatings will continue until moral improves!!!:smashfreakB:

Please be careful folks. If this EWer is right (and she is more right than wrong), this is a corrective rally, not an impulse rally. Looks like a bounce up is still in the cards to 1920?, then another slide down. I sure wish we had until 3-4PM every day to make our IFTs. It would change so much in the way we enter and exit the market. Feel free to disregard...just some info......

The path is unknowable, but I agree that the rally today looked corrective, and that was the reason I decided to bail. There's even a (small, but real) risk of an all-out collapse here since per some gurus the technical are very similar to October 1987 conditions. I see the futures are falling pretty good now...

Just a thought to ponder; I'm showing the C Fund down -2.81% and the S Fund down -4.80% for this current "red lunar phase". Just wondering if perhaps the inverted pattern is about to change back to the "green lunar phase" leading again. I've got the next full moon coming in on 23 Jan (this Saturday) which could line up with a relief rally next week, before heading down again. Your thoughts?

I don't know FS, the bears are still stalking'n feeding. This Bear market just doesn't feel quite right yet, this big dude doesn't look like a bull. Ouch!! (Beware, graphic spoiler if you haven't seen the film).

.

Yeah I've seen this movie before. :popcorn:Things look great now, but come closing time we will either be barely positive, or negative again.
I think I'll wait before flushing my life savings again... :Flush:

Today's market bearing a strong similarity to Asian markets 'last night'.
Up strong early only to fade strongly by the close.
(Nikkei was way up only to close -2.4%).

Selling the rallies?
Is that a sign of a bear market?

Yep, just as I thought. Markets started off great this morning and ended on a downer. S&P had a high today of 1889.85 and closed at 1868.99. But at least it had a gain today.

DWCPF (S Fund) had a high today of 901.18 and closed 887.69 for a loss of 0.02. :(

So when the markets go down, people panic and sell, sell, sell instead of buying the dip. When the markets go up, they sell the rally, thinking they can salvage some of the loss and nobody is jumping in hoping to catch the rally.

That said, I'm just going to ride the G train for awhile and be happy with my 0.01% per day gain. I ain't making nothing, but then again, I ain't losing nothing either.

Like Kenny Rogers sings, you gotta know when to hold em and know when to fold em.

Good luck folks!

Just a few observations for Friday.
-Going back to 4 Dec 15, the last 6 Fridays, the C fund was down. The S Fund was down every Friday except 24 Dec, when it gained 0.09%
- Since 12 Jan 16, the C and I Funds have been up one day and down the next. If the pattern continues, tomorrow they should be down.

Good luck with your investments and have a pleasant evening !!! :D :D :D
