Playing the I fund

I really dont think you understand what the FV is for. When MSCI closed yesterday, the dollar was actually UP versus major currencies. Then the dollar tumbled later in the day. Last nights FV was to "take into account" the dollar's losses late in the day. So, everything that happened today is still a gain.

When I see the FV really hurt people, is when they FV for the dollars loss one day, then the next day the dollar regains that lost ground. This is NOT the case today. The dollar continued to lose steam, down .17 vs Euro, .50 vs UK, and almost flatline vs Yen.

However, some of that dollar loss happened (once again) after the MSCI EAFE closed. So we may yet again see a FV. I strongly believe we will see over 20 cents tonight, if they FV. If they dont FV again, we will see around .49% LESS than what MSCI EAFE says today.

1.235% plus .414% from yesterdays MSCI EAFE is 1.649%. Now TSP paid us 1.33% yesterday. Will we get .319% (1.649% - 1.33%) or todays 1.235%?

It's been a nice run in the I Fund the last 5 trading days, and that is why I closed out all my long postions the last 2 days. Good Trading/Investing for those staying long. I think this is the 3rd or 4th the Fed is done rally. Oil at 72, gold over 630, Man I wish I would have been long those sectors... I know Birchtree made some bucks...

GO GO Birchtree! I'm still waiting to here from Henry.

I'll be looking for a buying op to go long again on the I Fund. I can now trade the EAFE in my Roth so I can double my fun/risk and also go short. It's not for everyone, but for me it's perfect!

Again, good trading/investing

100% cash at the close!!!

Your logic was solid but the dollar fell off again after the EAFE price had been determined. Today was like a FV carryover. I fund still "owes" about about 12 or 13 cents. Still been an incredible run.

My consensus tell me that I fund is due for a small correction but this thing is keep going and going and going up. :)

Will today be the day that the I fund hits $20.00??? That is a pretty good run for the last couple of years!!!! I am raking a large chunk off the table to keep my gains (almost $10K in 1 week!!), so am going 'conservative' for a spell and hope that Tom is correct for next week!!!!!

Gotta say I'd steer clear of the I-fund for the next few days. It is due for a bounce up in the US dollar which would be bad for the I-fund. Someone political is likely to say something that will be a trigger. Look at the history following recent big drops like we just had. Just my two cents while I'm on the sidelines.

Up .075 and an 11 cent loss. TSP says I fund $19.85. This must be the correction. Correct?

Correct. The I fund is now priced properly.

The I-fund figured without the FV adjustment for the last week.

April 13 closing $19.33
April 14 + .012% = $19.3323196 (TSP was closed)
April 17 + .915% = $19.50921032434
April 18 + .414% = $19.5899784550827676
April 19 + 1.235% = $19.83191468900303977986
April 20 + .075% = $19.846788625019792059694895

Rounded off = $19.85

In my book your the I Fund MAN!

So here is the question what does your crystal ball show for the dollar for the next 90 days? :)

Anyone else got a fairly reliable prediction? :)
