Playing the I fund

It should not be a + Fair Valuation. That should be the correct share price after the long weekend, but you will have to wait for one of the experts to wake up.

I'm pretty sure, but like Show-Me said a few posts above.... Wait for one our I-Fund experts to wake up and they'll clear it all up.

In case anyone missed the action overnight- the TSP originally, at 7 pm, posted a price for the "I".

However, everyone here noticed that they forgot to include the trading results from the day before, Jan 2, when the "I" would have been up a significant amount.

some people thought there was a mistake. Others said it was a fair value change, and would catch up the next day.

About four A.M. this morning- the TSP.gov website changed the day -end "I" fund price to be the corrected price of $22.44

As of 8:44 am this morning, TSP still has not finished updating individual account data to reflect the change- if you log into TSP right now, you still get 12/29's numbers.

I feel for the person who screwed that up last night. Caused a WHOLE lot of work to be done, I'm sure.

Let's just hope everything is fixed soon.

In the back of your mind you have to wonder about that. :D

TSP has to realize that they are under a lot of scrutiny, even if they don't put names to the sources. Public opinion has a huge effect on public officials, so we do deserve some of the credit, in a round about way - I think the exchange was worthwhile.

I was not caught up in an IFT, so personally I had nothing to gain or lose as long as the mistake was corrected this time, but in the long run, we all gain because the accepted process was not allowed to be rampantly violated.

They probably would not have caught it if they were not monitoring the I fund thread. LOL

 :D

... just logged on to the good news. It pays to speak up. Thanks to all who wrote TSP and Barclays and Cheers to them for righting a wrong on the I fund share price. Now, all they need to do is accurately update our account balances.

I just checked my account and they have rebalanced it to a share price of 22.22 (instead of the 22.10), so they have at least undone yesterdays mistake. They will probably have to rebatch everyone for the 22.44 and that could take several hours. I hope they get this is done relatively soon since I may want to do an IFT today. I will not initiate an IFT until everything is 100% corrected.

I will not initiate an IFT until everything is 100% corrected.

unfortunately there's no guarantee they'll update balances by the IFT deadline. i'm fearing keeping my money in on the top of a heavy line of resistance and the second day in a row with the VIX above 12... fear is back in the market after taking a long time off. I'll buy back that fear once we hit a support level.

There was No "huge FV" yesterday. They had omitted Tuesdays gains in their figures and now have fixed it.

Yup, they fixed it, but not only did they omitt Tuesdays 34 gain, they also didn't apply a -15 cent FV due to the afternoon sell-off in the USM yesterday.

It's all moot anyway because we're about to give all back. The dollar is up against the Euro and the Pound, and the OSMs are down. I will probably jump ship and head over to the F or G because I think tomorrow's sell-off will be worst. Yesterday's ADP suggested a negative job loss for Friday's job report. If that comes true, look out.

Yup, I am thinking that I will move over to the S-fund. I see nothing but more pain for the I-fund tomorrow as Japan follows suit and the EU reacts to Japan and then spends the rest of the morning twiddleing (is that a word?:D ) it thumbs while waiting for the US market to open.
