PessOptimist's Account Talk

Mindylou recommends you stay with 100% C fund for the next two decades - never go back to the G fund. This information is free.

You want that exact to the day do you? I think the person you want to follow is Marty McFly, but only if Doc Brown has given him the Delorean for the evening. :D

Re: Pessoptimist's Account Talk

My goal is to be invested 60/20/20 CSI without pulling anything out of S/I. So I am making all my contributions to C until my account evens out. I don't watch the market and I sleep just fine at night.

Mindylou is a very accommodating pussycat to offer this for free. Pet your pussie the next time you interact and tell her pessoptimist loves all pussies.

Maybe some kind of Early Edition of a publication showing market performance. A week early would be good, a month great considering the IFT limitations.

What now? Back up maybe to go down. When do I make that clever move C-G-C move to double my balance? I don't think that has any thing to do with any Yogi or the Kama Sutra.

I have some other thoughts but am torn between the day job or patio. Patio it is, been pretty dull there.

I probably will half step the kitty cat recommendation. When has a pussycat ever steered an adult male wrong?

Thought I would resurrect this thread. In spite of what I posted on the patio I am pretty up right now.

I have two children taking the bar exam in two different states today and tomorrow so am on pins and needles about that but of course no one will know the results until October.

What to do? I do actually watch the markets and try to get out if it looks bad. Last time I did that was in late 2008. It worked well. I have read things that say a 30% correction is coming soon. Wouldn’t it be great to get out of the market just before that and buy in at the bottom? If anyone knows the when please share.

In the past I have turned this thread in to a travel blog. I got mixed reviews. On Thursday I go on leave for many hours, like most of my accrued. It wasn't planned like this but is all approved. Stuff just kept coming up.

Already some are questioning this and whining. Fortunately my direct boss told me today to go and enjoy my leave. I really like working for this person. Coworkers are like that. They complain about everything.

Investing wise I will not be able to watch the markets too much, if I come back in September and am down 30%, so be it. The alternative is to put it all in G and have basically the same balance I left with. I will let it ride. WTF, I have 3+ years.

About that travel blog thing I did three years ago. Should I do it again? Should I post a burrocrat type poll?

I am really looking forward to getting away.

yes, yes, yes, and yes. except for leave the part about titties out of the poll. at least half of the folks on here do not like answering questions or hearing about boobs. sorry for them. plus, you'll just end up in the dog house. and that is no way to spend your vacation.

Not really sure what all the yesses are about but there will be no poll and since this vacation is with children and grandchildren, breasts should not be a factor since the youngest grandchild is on solid food.
Start of travel blog: I have completed the things required for work. I turned on the “out of office” thing in my e-mail. I will of course check my e-mails while on vacation. I call that owning the job.
I am working on the things I have to do at home before leaving. There has been a monsoon storm here the last three nights so the yard and pool are full of debris. I will continue to clean that up until we leave but it seems I must control that while gone.
Geeky GPS things I did in the past that were scorned are now required. Different group this time. Working on resurrecting the geeky things. Not easy as I have a new laptop running Win7.
I will I hope get that working plus spit shine the house. I have never figured that one out…clean it up before being gone. Don’t want the B&E people to think you are slobs?
Sig other is whining about having to get up and picked up at the same time I go to work every day. Poor her. She made the travel plans.
More to follow.

I have two children taking the bar exam... yes! good job dad. plus this way if you end up getting a divorce, each of you could hire one of them to represent you and transfer a wealth of attorney's fees within the family instead of piddling it all away fighting.

Wouldn’t it be great to get out of the market just before that and buy in at the bottom? yes! see burro's ark for hot ift tips.

About that travel blog thing I did three years ago. Should I do it again? yes! and be sure to schedule free time to get some quality planking in.

Should I post a burrocrat type poll? yes! but you already ruled out breasts so that ain't gonna be no fun.

I am really looking forward to getting away. i bet you are.

that is what the yesses were about.

ahhh, a family vacation. electricians beget lawyers who beget doctors who hire electricians to work on their houses. and it's the electrician who pays for it all, the circle of life thing writ large. enjoy cuz, and stay safe.

I call that, the job owning you, and definitely NOT a vacation.

Point taken ww. I will not check in every day but I do feel I have a certain amount of BS&T invested in this and I also have an obligation to a trainee to be concerned about. So, yeah, I guess to an extent the job owns me. All jobs, Fed or not are different.

that is what the yesses were about.

Not electricians bc but close enough. I have to say once again that the JD degrees did not come on my dime. How quickly the loans are paid off is not my affair I have been told.

I noticed looking at the autotracker I was in danger of being inactive. I hope I figured out how to fix that.

No poll. I looked at the hot ift tips and am not sure what a brazillian is. Should I get one for the cruise?

D-1, H-17.9. Not sure how that goes anymore. Big yellow taxi at the door at zero-dark-45 Wednesday.

I said the blog began two days ago with "Start of travel blog: I have completed the things required for work. I turned on the “out of office” thing in my e-mail. Thus begins the second "blog entry". Trying to get together all the electronic things requested. Shiny new computer bag that apears to be too big. Measurements confirm that. Statement about "it will be OK, it's what flight attendents use" ignored. I just don't want too much crap in the check in line. Like the time someone put her bottle of water in my computer bag and I had to go to "the room". I have no idea what the TSA rules du jour will be but am wearing some pants that will stay up without a belt just in case. Maybe we all will have to get naked and meet some big person with gold teeth who only remembered to bring one pair of medical gloves but it is OK cause they lick them off after each customer.

I love travelling by air. Apologies to anyone who works for TSA. Unless you are the big gold toothed person.

On to more immediate things. I have been told I must put the protective shield on the Kindle. I cleaned it off best I could since it has been used for months. I CANNOT get all the bubbles out of it. This is not acceptable. Any suggestions?

I really think if I would have looked at the weekly trend I would have done a lot better with my investments.

I always think when going on vacation I should move funds to safety. Then I think that I never move funds. Wish I had moved them on July 28th in preparation for the vacation. By August 1st it was far too late. Now let her ride. In the long term it will make me stronger. Maybe my TSP balance too.

Blog 3. Security line at the PHX airport was empty since we arrived early. No shoes off or belt off but somewhere is an image of me naked. Flights were on time and change at PHL not too bad except for the one mile walk.

SO started feeling bad shortly before arriving in MHT so collecting luggage and getting rental vehicle was a small hassle. Short drive to motel and SO spent first 35 or so hours in bed. Made the first afternoon of the family reunion. Next day after one hour SO needed to go back to bed. Only 30 miles and after making sure she was OK she told me to go back. Met siblings, cousins I had not seen for 50 years, an old acquaintance I never knew I was related to and many people I never heard of and will never see again.

Next day went to a party at brothers where all sibs and kids and grand kids and one niece were. A splendid time was had by all. Said bye to two sibs that were going home today. Only bummer was my daughter couldn't make it here until tomorrow so missed the reunion and seeing aunts and uncles.

Have not been keeping this up due to no time dealing with things, no reasonable (price) internet access and apathy. That's right, you all's and mine. Cruise went well, got sick, sick while in Montreal, not so sick (I hope) driving to NH tomorrow. Waaay over budget so far. Will work for three years with stay-cations until I retire. It was worth it so far.

Letting 60%C 40%G ride worked out OK. What will the rest of the year bring?

I really did not miss the political threads and only ran in to one political discussion in the last 3 1/2 weeks. That was in the hotel in Montreal among millennial males discussing the need for the death penalty and how they would kill the criminals. I love how each generation tackles the problems with the same result - no solutions just lots of opinion. They were also discussing how much the national health care system here sucks and how expensive it is. I only listened and asked no questions. I thought James said it was all free here. They seemed to be saying "mais, no".

we miss you po.

not apathy on my part, just fighting my nicotine gorrilla.
