nnuut's Account Talk

Re: Nnuut's Account Talk

I would say be very happy with where you are. You are doing better than me and I am happy with myself in this downturn.

I will say though I am getting ready to diversify myself back into this market after I see stability and capitulation.

Once I do that I am not going to spend so much time watching all this economic crap and going to start enjoying life more.

I have spent the last 2 weeks watching everything day and night and it is effecting my social life including my wife. She will talk to me and it's like a 747 going over my head.

Nnuuts i hope you dont mind again i think i will need this for a while:o have a glass of wine for me please i will need it

You're right as rain, when I started taking a proactive stance in the TSP, my intention was to watch the trends and follow them up while trying to miss these big drops, I like to call it semi long. Looking at the longer trend, let's say 3 weeks to a month. Well it's not so easy to react in that manner when you are tracking the funds on a daily basis. Don't get me wrong, I love it, especially when I make a good move, but at times it gives me a terrible headache and my wife likes to supervise and criticize when I'm wrong:mad::mad:. I'm going to try the semi long thing again, starting NOW!

CC feel free to use the bandages as long as you need them, don't get them all bloody though!!View attachment 1927

Hello nnuut,

I concur with everything you said. personally my wife gets tired of me constantly watching cnbc, On the computer reading everything I can read, Checking charts, Getting out of bed everynight to check the OSM's, etc etc... I love it too..., But,

I think we are at a point being down a full 10% in this correction, and the astounding 350 point turn around showing major strength that I am going to diversify 20% into every fund and forget it for awhile. I missed a 1100 point correction in the dow.

I do not want to be in a situation that I have been in many times and miss a nice 4 or 5 hundred point rally and hope that it will come back so I can get in and it doesn't. Then I'm pxssed and everything I avoided was done in vain.

I am willing to ride this down to 12000 if need be and be happy that I didn't take a 2000 point hit.

I am going on vacation starting Saturday morning for 7 days and there will be no internet access for me. I can watch cnbc from time to time 'As long as Wife doesn't think I'm being obsessed with it'. Hopefully the market won't screw me. If it does then we are going to a bear market and obviouly when I get back I have to deal with a bad situation.

I think this is a great entry point though. :)

Sorry if I rambled.

I know this is not the bottom but I'm not trying to pick the bottom.

Re: Nnuut's Account Talk

I'm waiting for a trigger and I don't think it happened today (head Fake). More banks and investment companies ready to fold or get protection, as soon as tomorrow, that's a maybe but a big one? Everyone is waiting for the FED to do something, how long? When it's upsville I will be on the train!! Just haven't bought the ticket, yet!

Latest update from the wife. There is a place for me to get internet connection. "Sip & Surf"

Back to my game. I know this market is going lower. Maybe not tommorrow but soon.

Oh well. I might be sipping coffee and contributing to the site afterall.;)

Re: Nnuut's Account Talk

If this thing does bounce up tomorrow, I see in the past corrections, that just after the bottom is taken out there is usually a retest of the bottom, Yes I've been there before! The old up, down, up thingie.

Not a great example, but you get the picture, right?

FED Cuts Discount Rate!! Surprise, Surprise!! Time that move!:D If your in today congratulations, I'd rather be lucky than Good anytime!!:D

Re: Nnuut's Account Talk

Looks like a move to the "I" is a no brainer for COB today. Wonder how the FV will effect the "I" Monday? I'm leary of a retest of the lows that sometimes occurs after the BOTTOM (are we there, is this the turn around? Maybe?) is reached. Might happen here Might not.
Think Semi Long nnuut, think Semi Long!!! I'm tryin'!!

Rethinking the "No Brainer", Japan is down big time, partially due to the Yen Carry trade problem, I think. USM are cooling off, I don't know how it will end, but this FED Bounce could wear off once investors figure out what effect this move will have on the economy (doe's anyone know?). At this point I really am not sure about the bottom, was this it? Might have to stay on the Pad a while longer?

Re: Nnuut's Account Talk

Catch the post # 5,555 WOW!
Yes I hope so too. it makes me feel I'm missing out on tomorrow that will probably be up again, but I decided to stay with my plan. If tomorrow is favorable, the bottom was probably hit and I'm going to look at jumping back in to ride it back up, but there is high winds, hurricanes and a pending retest of the lows on the way. I just wish I knew when.
Yen dropped and took the possibility of the Carry Trade crashing, that's
GOOD!! Saw an analyst on The tube a little while ago that thinks the dollar will lose half of It's value within a year! Man the "I" is looking better and better! Will just have to wait and "C"eeeeeeeeeeeee:cool:

Japanese stocks surge

The Fed's rate cut and weakening yen help Japanese stocks rally after a brutal week.

August 19 2007: 9:41 PM EDT

TOKYO (Reuters) -- Japan's TOPIX index jumped 3.5 percent on Monday morning, rebounding from its biggest one-week fall since the bursting of the country's economic bubble in 1990, as investors snapped up shares across the board following a rally on Wall Street and fall in the yen.
Electronics giant Sony Corp (Charts)., automaker Toyota Motor Corp (Charts). and other blue-chip exporters were among the biggest gainers after the dollar recovered to about 114.3 yen from a 14-month low of 111.6 yen on Friday.

The recent strengthening of the yen has threatened to cut into profits made by exporters abroad and dent Japan's economic growth. Investors were also encouraged by sharp gains on Wall Street after the U.S. Federal Reserve lowered discount rates to stabilize nervous credit markets. (more)

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Shares of Capital One Financial Corp. fell 5% during Monday's late-trading session after the giant credit-card company said it was closing its wholesale mortgage unit, cutting 1,900 jobs.

Capital One shares dropped 5% to $63.38. The company said it will immediately stop originating mortgages through its GreenPoint Mortgage business, which offers loans through brokers.
The company also said it will close GreenPoint's California-based headquarters along with 31 locations across 19 states. That will mean the elimination of roughly 1,900 jobs, most of which will go by the end of 2007, Capital One (COF: Capital One Financial Corporation

"Current conditions in the secondary mortgage markets create significant near-term profitability challenges," Capital One said in a statement. "Further, recent and continuing developments in the mortgage markets reduce the long-term outlook for profitability in the business, as the company expects markets for prime, non-conforming mortgage products are likely to remain challenged."

The Nasdaq-100 Indicator, which tracks the evening trading action of the tech-heavy index's leading stocks, was down 1.26 points at 1,891.79.
