Thanks JPH543.What a great read. Is there a retirement 2.0 thread![]()
No retirement 2.0 thread.
Scrolled through some pages and there are some names that have disappeared from the ranks.
Follow up.
I did retire a second time in 2021. That was the permanent retirement. Did that to take care of my wife when she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
Between the first retirement and the second retirement we enjoyed spending time with our 5 grandkids. The wife and I went on 12 cruises. We cruised the Eastern and Western Caribbean, Alaska, the Panama Canal and Australia and New Zealand. Took one cruise with our daughters and their husbands before grandkids.
Since my wife's passing, I have been on 11 more cruises and officially done 3 burials at sea with some of her ashes and maybe a half dozen unofficially. One cruise was with my youngest daughter and her family. The grandkids loved the cruise.
Did a Disney and Universal Studio trip with my daughters, sons-in-law and the grandkids.
Spending lots of time with my grandkids.
My government pension is treating me well and Social Security got a boost. Did well with my TSP.
Probably spend too much time on social media and playing video games. But I stay active, so my ass isn't glued to my chair permanently.
I have 5 more cruises scheduled now through 2028. One will be visiting Spain and then crossing the Atlantic to Ft. Lauderdale (9 days at sea).
So, all in all retirement has been good. Just not really good. There is just one missing piece to make it great.
