nasa1974's Account Talk

What a day. Got to bed around 2am because of some outages at the lab. Rain/snow/freezing rain all night. Woke up this morning ,no power. Well actually half power, dim lights so turned off the main breaker. One of the main power lines came down across my driveway because of ice build-up and tree branches. So I dragged out the generator and I am alternating the furnace, refrigerators, tv and computer. For some reason only one out of two 120 volt outlets on the generator is working. If I can later I will try to send some pictures. Right now they are too large to attach.

Hope everyone else is having a good day.

Contractors would share the pain of a government shutdown

"When the government shut down for 27 days in 1995 and 1996, federal employees felt the impact most directly. But if the government ceased its operations next month because Congress failed to pass a spending bill to keep it running past March 4, hundreds of thousands of government contractors who provide a host of essential services that were not on the table 15 years ago would share the burden."

Agencies close-lipped on personnel policy planning for shutdown

"In preparing for a potential government shutdown, federal agencies are reluctant to discuss which employees still will be working in critical jobs.
Agencies are required through Office of Management and Budget Circular A-11 to develop strategies for a government hiatus, and include information such as the time it will take to stop operations and the number of essential employees they plan to retain."

White House says a shutdown is still avoidable

"The White House continues to express confidence that a last-minute deal will be reached to fund the government before a shutdown is triggered on March 4."

Shut down WHAT, the government isn't doing a damn thing right anyway! What's happening now is their fault, not us ship builders, airplane fixers, tank repairmen, plumbers, electricians, welders, technicians etc. it's the bureaucrats that have put us in this position. Replace all of the crooks.

We need to remember that come election time. Unfortunately sometimes it comes down to the lesser of two evils. :notrust:
