Good Morning,

I have started my <1% Option vs "Buy and Hold" for 2010. I started the year with the standard $100,000.00. I normally post the totals for the funds either end of week or end of month. However, since yesterday was such a bloodletting for the I fund I decided to post today. The totals are as of COB yesterday.

<1% $100,172.59 (GFCSI 71%, 5%, 8%, 8% & 8%)
80,5,5,5,5% $100,197.84 (GFCSI)
30,35,35% $100,093.06 (CSI)
G-100% $100,153.92
F-100% $101,153.46
C-100% $100,523.44
S-100% $100,884.29
I-100% $98,932.93

Well we are 3/4 of the way through the first month of a new year and there have been a lot of new members coming on board.

Just using this a Public Service Announcement  to all the new members.

As everyone knows we are limited to only 2 IFT's per month. However, there is another option availible to us after you have used up your IFT's but would like to keep your hand in the action. It is the <1% Option. If you go to the top of the "Members Account Talk" section you will see the <1% Option selection. It is read only but does a pretty good job of explaining the option to all new members and old-timers as well. If you have any questions about the <1% Option you can post your questions here.

Hopefully this boosts the market today. This is good news for now. Here is the link http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Goldm...html?x=0&sec=topStories&pos=main&asset=&ccode=

Goldman Sachs earns 4.79B in fourth quarter

Goldman Sachs earns $4.79B in 4th quarter on strong trading; Pays $16.2 in salaries, bonuses

By Stevenson Jacobs, AP Business Writer , On Thursday January 21, 2010, 8:12 am

NEW YORK (AP) -- Goldman Sachs Group Inc. says it earned $4.79 billion in the fourth quarter as the bank's trading business again outdistanced the rest of the financial industry
The company rewarded its employes with $16.2 billion in salaries and bonuses for 2009.
Goldman said Wednesday it earned $8.20 a share in the last three months of the year as fixed income, commodities and currency trading buoyed its profits for the third straight quarter. Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters predicted Goldman would earn $5.20 a share.
The bank's stock rose slightly in pre-opening trading.
Goldman, which has outperformed other financial companies for years, has been the strongest bank throughout the financial crisis. It had less exposure to toxic mortgage-backed securities than other companies and also has been more aggressive in its trading.

Going to be one of those days in the market. Lots of ups and downs. It's all going to depend on what happens in the last half hour (again).

Steadygain, I am sorry but I also read all your posts and look to you also. See I knew I would forget someone and I'm sure as soon as I post another person will pop up. Anyway Steadygain I apologize but you also are a 6X6X8 in the Mix. lol :)

Sorry, More people I respect Grandma, James48843, Silverbird, westVaGirl (SP), Last Time I start mentioning names LOL.....

WOW !!! This was like a surprize 'Present' !!!

Thank you my friend, I'm very honored !!

The feelings are totally mutual --- in every way -- and all you included and the rest not mentioned ....;):)

Lots of people have been dropped from the AT too.

That's really ashame :(

It can be 'intimidating' -- but PLEASE know it's not meant to be.

Forget the competition -- use it strictly for yourself and think of every person on the AT as part of your family. If you take it any other way it totally destroys what it's meant to be.

You become too stressed out if you're towards the bottom

You become too puffed up if you're towards the top

The more that are on ~ and remain on ~~ the better

OH! Today is going to hurt.

You know I could convince myself that 2 IFT's a month is a good thing if the FRTIB would change the trading deadline from noon EST to say 3:00 or 3:30pm EST.

Fingers crossed that we see some buy back this afternoon just like yesterday.

Just after 4 o'clock I heard this load noise behind me. Then there was this large woosh as just about everyone in the tracker rushed past me. Fell from 136 to 227. It is going to be tough to drag myself above 150 again. DANG!!!

Hello All,

As the tracker has shown those that have been sitting in G or F have not gotten the bloody nose that the rest of us have received. Below is what my "<1% Option" vs "Buy and Hold" looks like after last weeks slide on the razor blade. OUCH!! Just a reminder that I started 2010 with $100,000.00 in each account. I will let the numbers speak for themselves. Good luck to everyone this week.

Week ending 1/15

30,35,35% $100,532.75 (CSI)

C-100% $3889.71
S-100% $2631.40
I-100% $5175.49

I know that most of us talk about how it would be nice to have more than 2 IFT's a month. But I really think what hurts us more is that we have to make up our minds by noon EST if we want to make an IFT. If you are stationed in Alaska or Hawaii you need to make up your mind by 8 and 7 am respectively. If we could get the FRTIB to move the trading deadline to even 3:30pm EST that would have a huge benifit to all TSP members. Other than a law suit I just don't see it happening.

I agree, what I would love to see is three trades at least. With the computer age I don't see why we can not have real time IFT's push the key and it's done, johnny on the spot right then. They do have the technology to do that I would think.

Yes they do and they could save MUCH money if they changed the way they handle the "I" Fund, ask James48843.:suspicious:

I think James has shown that the costs have actually increased even though the FRTIB forced all of to 2 IFT's under the pretense to reduce costs.

How fickle the tracker is. :D I picked up almost a 1/2 percent and fell 10 spots on the tracker. So it goes. I would be real happy if I could maintain a 1/2 percent profit everyday for the rest of the week. A slow crawl up is better than large peaks and valleys. I lost almost 5% last week so a 1/2 percent a day would give me back close to 2% of my losses.

Well my journey through the tracker is getting to be very interesting. I am going down instead of up and it looks like today will be no exception. Yesterday was a heart breaker. Futures started out red but as the day went on the market started to push above a 1/2 percent.:) The market killer in the last 2 hours was low volume. Maybe today will be just the opposite of yesterday.

watch out, they're coming for your checkbook buddy.

"President Obama is reportedly going to flatline NASA's budget ..."

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...bs-come-expense-moon-mission/?test=latestnews

It is amazing how little people understand what NASA does and has given back to the human race. The idea that we can depend on private companies to get us into space is years away. There will be very little intrest in going into space for 4 minutes for opproximatly $20,000.00 each trip. That and the safety factor will be nonexistant because of the need for profit. Space exploration and research is not profitable.
